American Airlines and Labor Negotiations

Actually the top officers of the TWU haven’t taken any raises for the last few years on those positions even though the TWU Constitution says that they can. According to the Constitution every year they can take all the Contracts that have been negotiated for the prior year and whatever the average raises were they can take the same. So if the average was say 3% they can also get a 3% raise to their stipends.

Samuelsen lives in his Mother in Laws house in Gerrickson Beach Brooklyn and pays her rent. Same place he’s lived since before he even became President of TWU Local 100 from what I understand.

BTW I’m sorry that you’re suffering. You’re not Homeless are you?

Then he’s an exception to the rule of most union leaders.

Not homeless no but yes I’m missing out on being able to increase money into my 401 the ability to gain pay and extra money for holidays and such because they want to protect future due members and care nothing for us.

This whole fight is not going to end well as long as it keeps going and if your hoping Parker gets removed for someone else that unlikely will not change anything either.
This abortion of an association is a product of union leaders wanting to keep their power and has harmed all members its been a joke from day 1 and continues to this day and is further taking us down

I trust who can produce results. There was wondering about AMFA, but the dam finally broke, and we successfully ratified a contract. If your Association gets the money, and back pay then the talk of replacing them will go away. Besides with the little interest in union meetings nowadays, good luck in a card campaign unless people are really pissed off and determined!

The people who want to replace have ran out of options.

AMFA, IAM, IBT, and TWU are now all working together with each other.

None are accepting any cards against each other.

But I guess they can always talk to this guy if they want?

We are stronger together than fighting each other.

Actually right now I can think of 3 excellent Labor leaders right off the bat who I admire. Sara Nelson with the AFA, John Samuelsen with the TWU and Lori Basani with the APFA. Also Brett Oestreich with AMFA has impressed me as of late.

That’s a ridiculous comment that they don’t care about you. Many of the items that the Association is fighting for are direct to our pocket items that don’t bring them in any revenue whatsoever. Such as work rules, Medical costs, retirement contributions and also a Retiree Medical demand.

None of those items go into the Dues coffers.

Your last paragraph is just negative speak or negative thought. When you think or speak negative you shouldn’t expect anything less than negatives.

The things that will destroy America are prosperity-at-any-price, peace-at-any-price, safety-first instead of duty-first, the love of soft living, and the get-rich-quick theory of life. ~

Well when negative is all I see coming from the Ass what do you expect. We are already a well compensated group and it’s right that we want improvements but it’s not always possible to gain everything that may harm the future of the company.
These are the exact arguments the Eastern unions used and they lead them down to destruction which for many was their intent.
Only fools push and plan for their own destruction

We are certainly not Eastern and as much as the anti Union crowd might like to say it, the Unions are not the only thing that led to the demise of that carrier.

I hope you realize that the Company has spent nearly $15 Billion Dollars on Stock Buybacks in the last 5 years.

You and I subsidize that choice the Company is making.

Just watched the last part of the Aircraft Maintenance Summit in DC where TWU President Samuelsen held the last 10 Minutes and once again he doubled down telling American Airlines that he will never sign a crappy agreement that outsources more Maintenance work out of the US.

I guess you’re going to be waiting awhile to get more money Vort? Oh well.

And you never answered this question either.

BTW since it looks like the AMFA, the IAM, the IBT and the TWU are all working together now, who do you got left to try and peddle?

You’re all out of options Brothers.

Samuelson means well, but it looks like this will go to a PEB. People understand the principle of fightng the company, but there is a large percentage of members (like it or not) that don't trust the Union, and their true motives. The delays on getting a deal done now, have already cost our members north of $100K as it is. There is no apparent concern on that issue from our leadership. As they fight for future jobs, our current dues payers are losing tens of thousands of dollars, sick time, vacation time, holiday pay and 5 holidays - all this, as we skip along towards the next economic downturn. PEB here we come.

There is a current card drive right now, and it never takes too much effort to revive. Especially if things go sideways.

I watched Samuelsons bit in the Aircraft Maintenance Outsourcing Summit video painful as it was. I`m not getting where the fight is. The union needs to clean up the message. Per their own documents they have already agreed to sacrifice LAA overhaul to the tune of 50% outsourcing. Up from the current 35%. An absolute mess. Samuelson would not know a "crappy" AMT contract if it bit him in the ass.

Vort don’t get me wrong I do feel just a little bit the same as you and would like to get this over with and cash in as well. I just really don’t like the price they’re asking for me to do that. And that’s honestly in pay, benefits, workrules and Scope.

But I have to ask how do you arrive at your 100K loss? For a little while in wages you were at the top of the industry. I don’t think your Holiday, Vacation and 401K loss put you at your figures. Besides our Contracts only became amendable last September. So despite wanting JCBA’s that September date is the Official start date.

There is a “current” card drive going on right now but it hasn’t been “revived” yet? You do know the definitions behind those two words right? One means “active” the other means “non active”

Out of curiosity does this guy’s idea intrigue you?

“Right now LUS farms out 50% of billable hours of heavy maintenance, and 100% of components can be farmed out and no line maintenance can be farmed out.

At LAA AA has the right to farm out 35% of the maintenance budget which is heavy and line.

The Association ask is a protected headcount at Base, and minimum amount of line stations. And a small percentage of line to be outsourced. Also they are asking for a protected headcount for the shops. So the shops headcount is equal to a minimum of 25% of heavy maintenance headcount, this number is separate from the protected headcount in base.

So in reality more work will come back in-house under this proposal.”

I wish their were some legitimately proficient AMT’s that still came to this site that could explain these things.

Anyone know what ever happened to Overspeed?
