Boycott the Companies AMT Day Festivities – Wednesday 5-24-2017
All Local 514 members,
It’s Monday morning and I’m headed back to DC to continue the process of negotiating a contract with a company that took holidays away from us in a shared sacrifice campaign we all remember not so many years ago. Also remember “we have to bring two large work forces together recognizing that USAIR doesn’t have flex vacation and TWU members lose another week of vacation, even though you had already paid for it yourself”.
It’s hypocrisy at the highest level.
About my letter to Boycott or not Boycott AMT day.
I want to be in step with my friends and co-workers Gary Peterson(591) and Rollie Reaves(567).
I followed the process, asked the board and they said ask the members. I respect the members voice, I also respect the authority of the Executive board you elected. I received phone calls, text messages, emails and watched the social media light up with opinions from the members.
So once again I thought I would return to the Eboard with a question. I asked 514 Vice President Ray Wilson to bring it to them for a yes or no vote to boycott the participation in AMT day on Wednesday May 24th.
They voted to Boycott AA’s AMT Festivities. Please understand that this does not mean we are boycotting AMT Day. We have nothing but respect for our AMT’s here in Tulsa and around the USA.
With the Executive board’s authority and as President of TWU Local 514, I’m calling for all TWU Local 514 members to wear your BLACK UNION T-SHIRT and BOYCOTT the companies AMT day celebration festivities in Tulsa on Wednesday May 24th, 2017.
It’s simple for me. Be a Union, stick together, fight with one voice for a common goal. An Industry Leading Contract, one worth voting yes on.
If the company really wanted things to be better, here are just a few items that come to mind.
Holiday Parity
Vacation Parity
Medical Parity
Retirement Parity
And the list goes on…
Mr. Parker, Memorial Day holiday for the IAM and not the TWU feels like the straw that broke the camel’s back.
I want to say thank you to the membership of local 514 for helping me fight these inequities.
Union,
Dale Danker
TWU Local 514
President
