Aircraft maint issues

And an Article for my AMT friends who just don’t even know what the word quit means.

Where the F*** are they getting 14,700 mechanics? I guess they are including building, plant maintenance and automotive mechanics to arrive at the 15 mechanics per aircraft.

The TWU-IAM Association (Transport Workers Union and International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers) represents about 31,000 workers, including roughly 14,700 mechanics and 17,000 fleet service workers. Since the merger of American, which had TWU contracts, and US Airways, which had IAM contracts, joint contracts have not been negotiated.

I think you are fudging history a bit weaasles, we specifically asked the company to give us their opinion of the I’am pension plan and if it had any future in a joint contract moving forward. Their response was CRICKET’S at the time. Dale Danker told me personally that the first meeting he had with the IAM side of the NC in the form of a meet & greet began with handing out IAMPP literature. You will never get me to believe that the original plan did not include getting as many (if not all) TWU members enrolled in the IAMPP. Like you have said many times the Company watches social media like this forum, I was banking on that when I said my only reason for adding my opinions here was to fight against the IAMPP. I hope they saw the many passionate DOA comments & lawsuit threats posted here in the early days of the ASS! Maybe the Company did see them & the putrid financial reports the IAMPP released since all this nonsense began and just did the right thing by not including it in their contract offer. Maybe just maybe you owe us a big thank you!!!!! LOL

They artificially inflate our numbers to fit their agenda. Number can be manipulated to fit whatever outcome they desire. Recently I was thinking about how ridiculous things have gotten. I have 2 examples. 1 if you are using a JLG and will need to exit the basket to accomplish the job. A second AMT is required BY THE COMPANY to be in the basket. In addition a third AMT is REQUIRED BY THE COMPANY to be on the ground to act as a spotter. 3 AMTs to accomplish what only really takes 1. The second example is slide work and the LUS obsession with ISD. The monitor and challenge REQUIREMENT is simply overkill. One AMT works, the second AMT watches and keeps distractions at bay. We had an aircraft recently that had multiple slides that needed worked. The company crew chief attempted to assign a "floating" monitor and challenge AMT, instead of one for each slide. His reasoning was the slide work would eat up all his man power. These 2 examples are COMPANY POLICY. Just 2 examples of how COMPANY POLICY drives an inflated amt to aircraft ratio.

You’re forgetting though that I always wanted it “offered” to me as a “choice”.

I’m a smart enough cookie not to have to have others decide my finances for me.

And of course the IAM would have liked for us to have had interest in it. Why in the World would they not have?

Looks like the IAM guys might get the choice that we’re not going to get now.

Uh you do recognize that Facilities, Automotive, Aircraft and Related are Mechanics right?

You know I got this look right now where when I read your comment I had one eye cocked and my mouth in that position people put it when they smell something bad.

Again these comments have always been to your own detriment when you tried to get Title 2 to sign those cards.

I don’t think those numbers have ever differentiated the AMT specifically to overall Mechanics of all shapes and sizes and skills employed by the Airline?

Airline Data Project doesn’t have an AMT Category. It’s Mechanics and Related I believe?

Funny how there is never any talk of FSC ratios or CSM or supervisor ratios. I`d bet a paycheck if the same metric were applied at SWA their mechanic ratio would double. Sick and tired of this attack on my profession.

Those are not AMT Weez. AMTs work on the aircraft not the "related" I`d love to see a no chit AMT to aircraft ratio. That would not fit the narrative though. That would not fit the agenda. The war on the AMT continues. One day it may very well be your profession under attack.

You're missing the point. Do plant maintenance and facilities mechanics work on aircraft?
Why should they be included in the ratio of MECHANICS PER AIRCRAFT?

I guess you really don't see the company's twisting of facts.

So why not say AA has X amount of employees per aircraft compared to the industry?

How do you include facilities, plant and automotive mechanics to the PER AIRCRAFT ratio, WeAAz?

It just does not fit their agenda Mover. They want to dumb down our profession and low ball us to benefit the "related". Given the current OASIS fiasco on the 737s you would think our experience and skill would be more valued and in demand. No, the war on AMTs will continue until they get what they want. The only solution is for us to be on our own. Unfortunately we know that will never happen during what is left of our careers.

hog absolutely not an attack on my part. I’m just saying that since they are all Mechanics in the context of Representation and selling it to the general public particularly in any news release they’re not going to separate us all out.

It would be very confusing to the general public overall.
