It's their choice to be a Zombie!

d) Each employee will be scheduled for two (2) days off during each work week. The Company will make every reasonable effort to arrange work schedules so that, whenever practicable, those days will be Saturday and Sunday. When an employee's days off are other than Saturday and Sunday, they will be two (2) consecutive days. Nothing will prohibit the Company from scheduling Friday and Saturday as the two (2)consecutive days off.

(e) If the schedule is four (4) days of ten (10) hours each, the three (3) days off will be consecutive and in accordance with the intent of Article 3(d). Nothing will prohibit the Company from scheduling Thursday, Friday, and Saturday as the three (3) consecutive days off. Nothing will prohibit the Company from scheduling Friday, Saturday, and Sunday as the three (3) consecutive days off
We are our own worst enemy .You have guys working overtime, triple shifts, chasing the buck. The company saves money, because they know the guys will do it, and they don't have to hire as many people. When I get a guy that is on his second or third double shift, and he is functioning on 4 hours of sleep, they are dangerous, and not very productive. But that is our quality of life our union wants to protect.

Have to agree with Rogallo’s comment here 100%.

“It’s their choice to be a Zombie”

Metal would you want that piece of Legislation to force the Company to not allow an Employee to pick up those extra hours? Essentially force them to go and get some rest?

I think you are missing the point.
How many hours in a day is enough? It ok for someone in ANY job ANYWHERE to work back to back doubles every day simply because he or she gets a 7 1/2 break in between? And that not 7 1/2 hours sleep when you consider travel time back and forth from home.

After all, there is no sleeping at work, right?

So someone can theoretically work 16 hours a day 26 or 27 days in a row and be considered SAFE? ALERT?
Why do pilots and F/A's require certain time off between fights? Are there jobs more physically demanding than a mechanic's job?

But Driver, IT IS THEIR CHOICE TO BE A ZOMBIE!!!!!!!!

Never mind quality of life, what the safety of the flying public?

WeAAz, you now as well as I do, you could double our salary and YOU WILL STILL HAVE people working inhumane amounts of hours.

So you are saying there should be NO REST mandates? Really, WeAAz?

I can't tell you how many people I know have said I need One or two overtimes a week to make ends meet but when they got the $9/hr raise they still needed the one or two overtimes a week to make ends meet.

Oh no Metal. You’re beating a drum here with me and I’m hitting the skins right along with you.

You’re taking to Joe 40 here. 23 years and counting proud to say only 2 Doubles in my career. Been back in MIA for 7 years now and have signed up for OT “ZERO” times. I’m a Religious 8 Hours of sleep preacher.

When people tell me they’re working a Double I don’t give them any atta boy looks that’s for sure.

But do you really think you’re going to get the head of the TWU to support the idea that his members be restricted on hours of “choice”? I (unfortunately) highly doubt it.

FA’s on the other hand are being forced by scheduling to not get enough rest so that’s where his focus was.

WeAAz, you know how much we mechanics make? Right?
What if their argument was well, "we need to work CS's and OT until we drop" because the company is not paying us enough, not paying us what we are worth, blah, blah, blah....."

Why not let mechanics work 24/7 everyday? Who needs sleep?

What would WeAAz' answer to them be?

Metal do you remember when the Company changed the CS Policy that you could only work 2 Doubles in a row and on the third day only a 4 hour CS?

My Local President at the time somehow won an argument against the Company and was able to get that 4 hour upped to 6 hours.

Listen man the majority out there don’t give a chit about anyone’s health or personal safety. The Company doesn’t give a chit about our personal health or personal safety and most Union leaders are going to pander to the greedy or financially desperate before worrying about if you or I get run over by these exhausted people.

BTW Metal we had a guy die here just last month. Fell asleep at the wheel and crashed into the back of a parked Truck. Dude was a Doubles King I was told.

Wait until there is a major air incident regarding overworked employees.

The union is just as guilty.

Oh ABSOLUTELY!!!!!

Metal here’s another one for you. Got a guy here who wanted me to use my contacts to get the International to push for us FSC’s to be under the same FAA guidelines you guys are for random drug testing.

I told him “Are you out of your mind”? If you want to be crucified by your coworkers you go ahead and make those calls yourself. (He didn’t and he won’t)

Now I know how much more valuable my job would be if we had those randoms but we got lots of guys out there have to have those weekend tokes.

Well if the intent was to add value to your job, he should be reminded that you are subject to a drug test following an accident or damage to an aircraft.

You know what they say....be careful what you wish for.

Oh I know exactly what the intent is and I would have no problem with it being implemented period (Company doesn’t want it though)

Of course it’s been a very long time since I toked a joint though.

Id like to see you guys wrap this up in the next 2 years please :) And get a large compensation increase so the company im at will have to match it. UA. And by the way does anyone know what the Delta mechs top out is now? I would ask on their forum but we all know nobody will respond there. Thanks

All included at Delta, a line guy topped out is $52 an hour, right now, so add 3% October 2018.
