Aircraft maint issues

No, this needs to be fixed ASAP. Its ridiculous and a DIRECT consequence of being FORCED into this association.

Just makes me wonder, why now. Did the Association which we all know is the International Presidents just drop this on the NC.

And really what difference does it make which system we use going forward? Just want some insight Dvl.

You're joking right? Have you read the Javits letter? It completely screws LAA higher capacity positions and takes away any incentive to ever bid one of those jobs.

So what is their super seniority, is it like our 4 year-bump on the Airtran guys?

LAA uses classification or title seniority. AMT, AMT CC and Inspectors are all in title 1. LAA has always used your title 1 date for bidding higher capacity jobs and that date did not change when you moved into a CC or inspector job. The Javits letter ruled in favor of the LUS method which is your CC or Inspector seniority starts day 1 in that classification. So a 30 year AMT could bid a CC job and be junior to a CC that bid that job 2 years ago. Its is completely counter to what the majority (LAA/TWU) has worked under for decades. Thats it in a nutshell.

This is the exact issue I brought up when this merger was announced, and now it is coming to life. It will be one of the biggest hold ups of the JCBA.
I agree with your post above and your example with the 30 year man is what I was talking about when I said "taking seniority" from someone. No one should lose seniority just because they bidded a CC or into inspection etc...
This needs to get changed to the LAA way or there are a lot of premium positions fixin to get screwed. I'm shocked that not all locals are suing for this change in seniority coming if left as is.

It's time for this asso. to go. Everything just seems to go against the LAA fellas. My God who is running this asso.? IAM in my opinion and the TWU is letting them, Pathetic, sign them there cards guys!!!

That's the good old boy system, F that, your seniority is your seniority, this should propel your exit out of the Association even faster. Maybe not the IAM.

It's their turn to slow progress on a JCBA. Wouldn't surprise me if it is a directive by the internationals of the association

One thing I have to say about being in a Union and it doesn’t matter which one. They always come with a load of DRAMA.

All of the LAA Chiefs got basically dovetailed into the seniority list with their Chief date if I'm not mistaken.
Only anyone entering a higher classification going forward will go to the bottom.
I agree, the TWU method is superior, and my reason for not being concerned I guess is that I would never Bid a Chief spot anyway due to the fact it is a management liaison anymore.

Another question is the selection process, will they use IAM or TWU method?
