Aircraft maint issues

Yeah that’s what the issue is. What will be in the TA.
You know hourly pay is only part of the equation. Yeah, we AMTs are behind in OT, sick pay, vac, and holidays compared to our industry peers. Did I leave something out?
Job loss. Will it happen? No. Not until we vote in the TA that we all know includes worst Scope than we have now. Patience will see us sitting here 5 years from now behind in all the areas I mentioned.
SWA is a different animal as they have always outsourced more maintenance and have a different business model.
I give them credit for trying to being more work in house. But they are in a better position to be patient than we are. Bankruptcy will do that I guess.

You left out 401k contributions/match and profit sharing percentage.

You do know an AA fleet service clerk makes more than a WN FMT?

And? The point to the letter is that FM received a n union contract, which could very well set the bar for the other airlines that have FM.
I will remember this post but let us see where our FM is in the future.

If their Facilities Maintenance Tech is the same as our (LAA) Plant Maintenance Mechanics. Ours are paid way more than SWA.

You don't accept a stupid offer, if you don't like it, vote it down, and get a better one.
If my memory serves me right, we did vote a bad contract down but the international said to bad and forced it on us. Maybe someone can refresh my anient memory.

If history repeats itself the TWU advice will be:

"This offer is as good as it will get. It's the best we could do. Best vote yes as the next offer will be worse"

You are 100% correct. They are the same group and they are paid massively less than their AA counterparts.

In base wages this little bag smasher (Me) makes more than them.

And they voted yes for whatever insane reason?

AMFA picked up FM at SW and we received the Association.

I would like to see the letter exchange between the unions, the company and the NMB...

AMFA I guess proves yet again through their representation how little value they place on anyone who is not an Aircraft Mechanic?

And don’t shoot the messenger. It’s the wages that tell the tale. Not me.

They make only about $1.00 more per hour than SWA Baggage Handlers, $1.00 less than me and about $12.00 per hour less than AA Facilities Maintenance. That’s almost $25,000 per year less BASE.

No it just shows they are not riding on the maintenance backs...Weasy...

Seems to me as if the roles between what SWA pays and what DL, UAL and AA are trending in opposite directions.

And that $50.24 offer came with even more outsourcing than SWA Maintenance already engages in. How many jobs would be left if that offer were accepted?

The reversed roles in pay are merely temporary until we get a new contract, and I really hope we get our contract first so you guys can leap frog us to the top with industry leading pay as promised. But at the rate we are going, I see AA'ers with a contract prior to us especially with the past history of those two unions. Just my opinion but going by past practices of these two unions.
To answer your last question, none. According to the company everyone here will remain here and no one will lose their jobs. What is not guaranteed is WHERE everyone will be working. There will be a very large number of mechanics forced to graveyard shifts with their new maint. programs they are trying to implement. Line RON, Hgr RON, and other over night maint. lines. They also want to rid the C check line in Dallas. They tried that before and AMFA was successful in bringing it back so why in the world would we be willing to give it back up? Until the company moves and willing to put future job positions in writing we sit where we are.

Our Plant Maint. guys are paid the same as aircraft mechanics minus lic pay but adds in an additional pay.

Terrible. Just terrible. Such incredibly piss poor representation. Terrible.

Actually now we’re waiting for you guys to catch up to us in case you haven’t heard. So are you now riding OUR backs then?

I think we ALL ride our Customers backs actually? Here’s a question just for you ATD.

Do Aircraft Mechanics need anyone at all or can they do it all by themselves?

The IAM would tell us a loaf of bread cost the same for ramp workers as it does for mechanics. I would say the ramp personnel did not sign the airworthiness of the aircraft. So we have a lot more responsibility than losing someone baggage!

I agree with you, and you are payed accordingly.

It’s not a pissing contest.

Each group provides a necessary service.

And the market determines the rates of pay.

Do you really think if they paid you the ramp less they would pay us more?
