Aircraft maint issues

Step one to restore any credibility to the TWU with me would be to give 100% effort to abolishing the association. We all know it is not promoting unity among members.

Step two would be letting the members democratically choose their union representation.

Any less and it's clear proof that they are looking out for themselves and not their members best interests.

Ok but what if they don’t have even an ounce of a Legal standing to be able to abolish the Association? What if even if there was a full blown card drive the TWU couldn’t Legally accept or submit the cards to the NMB?

Rogallo dead serious here. Can you tell me how they could do a 100% effort then?

But if that’s your stipulation and you’re going to stick with it, I can understand it. Hope they find another way to earn your thumbs up at least if they can’t do what you ask.

How about day shift ground workers who probably start before most at HQ park in the HQ lot and have the buses take them to the terminals leaving their vehicles there ALL DAY!

A petition would be a start cause we all know how the card drives go. The deck is stacked!!

I doubt I will see anything to change my opinion of the TWU in the short time I have left at AA. I'm glad they do well for their other represented groups. The organization is not geared toward the AMT at AA. JMHO!

I respect your opinion and the civility that you gave it to me. Thanks.

Good for you!

CB the Fleet negotiator? Great, you get updates from the Fleet side. How 'bout a M&E update in the "Aircrarft Maint Issues" thread! 😵
Yea no kidding. You just answered my question I just asked in the fleet thread. I asked when CB gives an update is it only for the fleet boys and not including mechanics. Now this tells me that they are more catering to the fleet folks and not the mechanics, which tells me it may not look good at all for the maint side of this contract, just my guess at this point.

Overspeed.....yeah, there's a good one. You couldn't pry his lips off Videtichs' ass. One of the all time greats at getting the union what the company wanted.

Hey DFW guys, How is ole Phat Don doing? Kinda fell off the face, huh??
OMG. overspeed? You nailed it. Remember him and I had a bet from years ago. The bet was I would sign a TWU card or he would sign an AMFA card if the other person won the bet. The bet was that we (SWA) mechanics would get an offer above the current pay the UPS'ers were at with their current contract. Since the co's last offer would have put us at over $55, guess I won that one huh? When you guys get another AMFA card drive going be sure to take one to overspeed, watch him sign it, then post it here with him holding it up to show all he lost the bet. LOL. Gotta love this stuff man...

Rogallo, what are the numbers required if you guys went the petition route? What you said above is correct. The TWU is a good fleet type union, but not a mechanics union at all. Sure hope you guys can replace them at least for the mechanics group, let them stay with the fleet group and get a mechanics union in.

Twu always caters to fleet service. Like there sick leave are all full days where ours is the first day each ocurance we get. 4 hours of pay . It used to be the first 2 days . Stores got a extra week of vacation in the bk contract . The twu dose not care about amts. that is until we get a card drive going. Then the twu and company send a seniority list that are over inflated so the card count fails. I still can’t believe that we have mechanics that are not willing to get rid of twu. People say we are the union and that’s true but the twu makes it has hard on us to be the union. Twu believes they know what’s best for us. We get no vote on the Intl presidents . We did not even get to vote on the association with that I rest my point with the twu it’s hard to be members. At least with AMFA the mechanics are the number one group.

You are 100% correct. I think it's time to get a mechanics oriented union in at AA land. Now let's get it done...

I have a question regarding the money TWU is getting for those employees who were not properly brought up to the pay scale in August 2015. I have a friend who is an IAM member who has not been making the proper money since our big increase. He has to wait on arbitration to see what will happen. Mean while TWU workers will receive pay adjustment and a lump sum. By TWU winning this for their members, should the IAM workers not receive the same?

If the IAM receive the same shouldn't the TWU members receive holidays, lower priced medical and full pay sick time? I am hoping you were being sarcastic but I am guessing you weren't.

I understand what you are saying. We should have not agreed to work on each other’s metal until the AA side was brought up to the same things the LUS side had.
I still feel my friend is entitled to the pay raise and lump sum. I hope the new contract makes every side equal
