Can anyone answer this? Is Charlotte "really" understaffed? We all received the most recent CBS stating it is more of a "day-to-day" operation and therefore they are justified in bringing more people here. Right now it seems CLT is overstaffed because there are no trips to go to RSVs. Perhaps you may want to schedule the RSV lines a tad better??? They have everyone on-duty on weekends and will be scrambling on Tuesday to cover trips. Where is our illustrious Union Leaders? Doesn't the Union have a look-see in terms of how RSV days are built?

So here we are in Charlotte. So many people just sitting around, waiting. My friend who is a RSV is PHL is up to 75 hours (as of 9/12) and I have 20. I've worked one 4 day and thats it. Usally at this time of the month I have easily 35 hours. If you look you will see there is not much activity in terms of RSV.

What is going on????

Ps. one more thing ... Isn't the "I" position a LODO (CLT FCO)? If so, why did a reserve get to take that position when, in fact, they are NOT a LODO?

I was curious about how your scheduling system works. I would have to agree that they just can't seem to get it right with how they schedule you guys. However, I was also interested in what you said about your friend having 75 hours on the 12th. My US friend told me that seemed to be next to impossible to achieve without vacation or something like that. They gave me an example of trips you might be able to do and even added more time than most of your trips are actually worth. Trip one you do four days that give you 25 hours which my friend says is pretty high for trips these days, but added time for weather delays or what not. Second trip they do a trip for two days that gives you 12 hours. You now have worked six days so you need 24 hours without working and you have accumulated 37 hours. On the 8th you do another four says and it is worth another 25 hours. After that my friend says they might do a trip for one day (the 12th) worth 8 hours. That would give you a total of 70 hours. I was told while there may be a slight possibility of getting 75 hours by 12th it would be a monumental feat. They said your friend would have had to give up there off days for one and that being under your LTO system they would have had to be extremely lucky with all the stars aligning just right. They said it might work if they included time from a trip that may have started on the 12th but finished later.

I am not trying to say your friend did not get 75 hours. I just happened to be discussing with my friend how your scheduling worked and mentioned your friends scenario. My friend says they would like to know the magic secret to achieving this as they could not remember a time where they had that many hours so quickly. And this person works whenever they can. Would be nice to see all your reserves working like this again.

As far as a reserve doing the lodo position I was told that is in your contract. If no lodo is available but there is enough non lodo reserves they will cover it with the reserve. I guess this brings up an interesting question about the "translator" on your Tel Aviv flights. What does your contract say about this situation. I would think that there should be something in your contract that would say that any work performed in the cabin is that of a flight attendant. Seems like another big slip up of non professional contract negotiators.

The translator doesn't perform f/a duties. Nor do they occupy a f/a jumpseat.

Ok this board has been quiet for a few days so let's get the ball rolling. My first question would be to ask how many signatures were gathered in PHL for Mike and Carol's recall? I made mention last week but it seems to have been swept under the carpet. John McCorkle should be the one recalled. With all of these MEC elections coming one needs to remember this. John is the one to vote for our MEC. You and I DO NOT get a vote on who our MEC President is. If you want to make sweeping change on the MEC level PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE people FOCUS and do the right thing. Elections in PHL are right around the corner but why wait? John has his eye on a MUCH bigger prize people which is MEC level. Is that what you all want? Recalling Mike and Carol NOW will only leave Lisa and co to negotiate with the company while we the east look for replacements. Negotiations don't stop. The determination is great and the movement is happening but it's focus is all wrong. Again, get your priorities in check as John, Anne and Alan will be voting for your next MEC president. John keeps Mike where he is. Some food for thought. ;)

I cannot speak to this situation directly but I can say that on the pilot side a large driver of the bid before this one was the anticipated sale of slots to Delta and the subsequent re-alignment of East system flying. The sale has not happened, LGA and BOS are closed and the company is trying to figure out where to base both Pilots and F/A's out east because they now have a situation they didn't plan on. It will take a few more bids I think to get the staffing levels right I think.

My friend has been flying nothing but Europe trips. They are 3 days with pretty high time. You may not get 75 (and perhaps my friends "enhanced" their numbers) but you can easily get close to it.

My point here is this. If PHL is so overstaffed and CLT is critically understaffed why are the PHL RSVs geting their time in and RSVs in CLT are NOT?

CLT "typically" never gives the "I" position to a RSV. But never say never here. I called once to get it and they would NOT give it to me even though I was next in line and we had ample coverage.

As for the recalls, I have not seen or heard anything in CLT with regard to that. I realize JM is in PHL, but what about for MF et al? Why is only PHL petitioning recalls for MF?

Here is the deal. Everyone that wants to recall Mike and carol need only remember this. There is a process that needs to be followed. If you pull Mike and Carol from negotiations now it will leave ONLY Lisa and whatever her name is to negotiate with the company. She will become the East f/a's voice along with the West. Now, as for John and why this matters, John is the vote that keeps Mike in office. Couple that with the fact that John McCorkle has his eye on a bigger prize which is getting in at the MEC level. ANY kind of change needs to be done on your local level. Though I am NOT a supporter of Mike and Carol and would like to see them gone sweeping change needs to start at your local level. I don't know about CLT but Local 70 in Philly has A LOT to answer for. Let us start with the budget? Mmmmk? Let us start with John giving more excuses about a similar meeting in PHL like CLT had and how hard it is to accomodate everyone. Look John, book Mike and Carol ( I know, a joke) for a meeting and just see who attends. Attendance to that meeting would be HIGH I assure you considering the importance and disgust amongst members. Those that support John.....I ask why? What has he done in office besides answer phones and and get claims paid?

SWEEPING CHANGE STARTS AT YOUR LOCAL LEVEL FOLKS. Ridding John from office is like kicking out a leg from under MF's table. DONE! ! ! !

Have you started the petition, and if so, where can we find it?

I myself have not started a petition to recall anyone. Reason being? Well a very large majority of people are blind to the situation and lack the basic knowledge of how the very union they pay dues to operates. The signatures are there but quite frankly are for the wrong person. Again, John is one of the pillars that keep Mike where he is. Knock down a pillar and his "temple" if you will becomes weak. You start from the bottom and work your way up.

If the signatures are there now, for the wrong person, wouldn't they be there for the right person as well? In other words, if people are blind to this situation, where are the signatures coming from? I say, start a petition instead of just talking about it on here: I bet you'd be surprised!

Again, starting a petition and collecting signatures to recall Mike and Carol will do very little at this point. Looking ahead though, recalling John who votes to KEEP Mike in will better serve us all. If you vote out Mike and Carol now Lisa will continue to negotiate without ANY east input while we get it together to send someone new in. THAT is the issue.

Is the petition to get them off the JNC or the MEC or both? If we get Mike off the MEC we don't need to worry about John. He's got a lot of senior mamas who like him.

Sherri Baker needs to be on the JNC. Period. We need someone who actually flies the line in there. Travel you really should get something going in PHL - maybe we could rile up Beachboy and you two could get it going. He would be excellent in there...

That is my point about your contract. This poor language in the contract is why the company wiggles around it. Do you not have a language program in your contract? Does it not state that that person is suppose to be a flight attendant? The language appears to be another poor example of amateur negotiators not looking from all angles. This is just like your poorly written crew rest seats. Nobody thought that they may add longer flights with a new aircraft? Your negotiators are out to lunch. The one's presently negotiating may not have written that language, but you should be asking what they have done to fix it. Lack of attention to the details are what is killing you guys!

Lack of attention to details by the JNC and not communicated to the members is what is going to cause the T/A to FAIL in capital letters when voted upon. ;)
