AA pilots and pat-downs

You might be very surprised how much the TSA workers are paid. It takes almost a year to be hired and the background checks and physicals are far more extensive than for flight crew.

Let's look at your post a little closer:

How much they're paid?
The original dirtbags were paid peanuts, the current TSA bunch is way overpaid for their attitude and performance. A GED gets some of them paid 6 figures to basically follow a manual. Similar to coloring if you ask me.

A year to get hired?
Possibly true. More likely due to goverment incompetence than some intensive investigation. I dealt with another arm of the TSA with background checks. Enough on that topic.

Background checks?
A criminal background check is only done if there is a suspect employment history. Even then it's only 10 years. How would you like your young boys getting felt up by a TSA screener that had a arrest or conviction for some lewd act on a child in the 1990's and now he's feeling up kids? Great plan. There was a great traffic stop by a Highway Patrol officer near a airport a few years ago. Car was stopped for expired tags. Driver has suspended driver license, no insurance also. Passenger 1 has a bench warrant oput for his arrrest. Passenger 3 has a warrant out for violation of a restraining order. The common thing with the 3? They were all TSA employees in uniform going to work!
Physicals more intensive than Flight Crew?
I need a physical after reading that part, I think I cracked two ribs laughing and falling on the floor. Have you seen some of these clowns? I think I saw one that weighed 400lbs recently.

Most are good people doing a boring job. I've had enough with some though, especially on the employee bus. Others are worthless.
I'm the only guy in line, bags halfway through machine, Screener logs off and walks off for his break. 30 seconds and my stuff would have been done. I wait 5 minutes for new guy to log in and clear my bags. Others whine loudly in front of customers about their job. Say they put in 3 years and can't figure out why they're going nowhere.

The other thing that kills me is they cannot stop anyone walking through security. someone can walk right on through and they, the "Officers" with badges, cannot stop them. they call the airport cops and shut down the terminal. That's our defense folks.

Can only speak to the parts that I know. Watched a friend go throught the hoops. Yes she has a BS and the physical was multi levels. Perhaps because she doesn't have "shape edges" and she is closer to sunset than sunrise. Background check was extensive (even though she is a former f/a) and she had needed a clear background for her last non airline job.
There are "bad" people in all sorts of jobs and no I don't want to see anyone be groped. I was asked to submit to a pat down while I was still flying and my only response after was, "If I had known we were going to become so intimate, I would have at least shaved my legs". And yes, I had a confrontation with a screener that made my daughter remove her belly ring (actually, I should have thanked him) and didn't offer a female officer. It was reported and delt with to my satisfaction.

Just curious, how many people run background checks on their child care providers? FCSRs should be run at least upon hiring and I feel every six months. (Family Care Safety Registry) You just never know in ANY profession.
