AA and US Merge?

<_< ------ Anyway you look at it, prices this low can be down right dangerous, for everyone!!! And if you don't believe that, I've got a few shares of TWA I'll sell you!----- Cheap!!! ;)

Just because AMRs shares are selling for a very low price that doesnt mean that the majority of shares are available for sale at that price.

Hello Bob, does anyone know who represents the mechanics for US AIR or are they non union?

BWT, no airline will merge with AA until after a BK. The union contracts and pensions have to be reworked before it makes any sense for anyone else to get involved.

<_< -------Translation: Get reed of heavy maintenance?

Oh, that would be hysterical to be bought out by a airline that has the IAM as the mechanics union.

It really doesn't mean much as far as the NMB is concerned. There'd either be an election to choose one of the unions or with AA's much greater mechanic headcount the IAM could be left out in the cold without an election. The situation was reversed in the US/HP merger - US had the most mechanics so the IAM became the bargaining agent for the combined group without an election IIRC.

Me thinks that the TWU is the bigger union???

Maybe the TWU could rid US Air of the IAM or would that be a raid, under the no raid clause?

How about farming out the line stations?

Anything's possible, Buck..

But look at this way.....look at every low cost carrier and every other "legacy" carrier who went and emerged from Chapter 11....

WHAT CHANGED? OH SLASHED and they ALL have line maintenance!

Wouldn't that be ironic for us ex-twa mechanics who use to be represented and paid dues to for some 30 years to the IAM. Geee how would all this play out ? I guess we will just have to stick around and wait for the show if we make it that long.

If a carrier is in BK, and then bought by another airline, does it really matter who is the bigger union? I have seen this exact scenario play out before, with the exception the previous airline wasn't even in bankruptcy at the time and wasn't the bigger union. Not sure it matters though.
