It is being worked by Airbus and US Maintenance, as the Forward Pressure Bulkhead was damaged.

Heard it should be back in the air soon.

Why is it fenced off?

Airbus did that. Airbus and US Airways personnel took it apart, but when it came time to reassemble it, only Airbus personnel were allowed in the immediate area. They assume the liability and my understanding is they returned the damaged part of the aircraft to new airplane specs...warranty and all.

Well before the second chapter 11, it had 4 bays of overhaul and one bay for overhaul/phase check till they built the line hangar.

I believe they are doing three lines right now.

It had and still has but not in operation all the shops needed to support overhaul.

It is the only hangar at PMUS that could hold a widebody fully enclosed.

CLT line and base are the largest maintenance presence at PMUS.

There is also an offsite, engine and composite shop.

And Distribution (Stores) is attached to the base hangar.

Thx. How many AMTs? I`m just trying to get an idea of how it compares to DWH.

DWH is a line operation correct?

CLT has Base Maintenance and Line Maintenance with a large line maintenance hangar operation.

I will post numbers when I get them.

DWH is listed as a "base" however in reality we are a line hangar. We do the same work as our counterparts across the field but are paid less. Really the only thing we don`t do is work a live flight. The numbers at DWH are 231. Which includes AMTs, Crew Chiefs, TCC and Inspectors. In addition to approximately 45 OSM in the 3 back shops.

Ok there are about 350 mechanics at CLT base, that is not including inspection.

And there are about 400 line mechanics, with line inspection, and line avionics.

There is also a large GSE shop too.

And the offsite which is the Engine and Composite shop, dont have numbers for that.

But between CLT and PIT Heavy there are 675 protected mechanic jobs and 50 Utility.

There is also plant maintenance.
