A330s

Isnt this thread about where the A330s are going for their mods, not the routes they fly or could fly?

I'm just amazed that we're on page two and it hasn't devolved into the usual suspects turning it into an east-west or union fight yet.

BA would pull out of PHX if we started service to Europe.
Because US feeds BA? or, you think BA would just otherwise defer to US? Perhaps Mr. Mugshot could get the US government to offer and BA would accept, say, FAT instead of PHX?

Don't know if the 330 or even 332 would be considered "reliable enough" PHX to Europe considering the 330 max gross single engine performance on a sea level standard day would seem to be eclipsed by a Piper Apache single engine rate of climb.

Oh. Costs have nothing to do with competitiveness.
I suppose you think that US should eliminate everything that costs extra - FC, clubs, meals/snacks/drinks, whatever. Hey, GIG takes two airplane...better drop that route. Look how "competitive" the product would be, since you think competitive is all about lower cost...

And you conveniently didnt quote the whole post now did you?
No I didn't, only the part that had nothing to do with where the 330's are going for the interior refit. You're big on playing moderator and telling others what they shouldn't post but poor at following your own rules.

Ok, two can play this game, lets see how many of your posts have nothing to do with the topic at hand.

1.
Unless US decides to start Asia service first, which would almost have to be from PHX, the first will probably be the A350's to Europe from PHX. PHX is a somewhat more competitive connecting point between the west coast and Europe than PHL and definitely better than CLT.

2.
Western Europe, yes. Anything else would be a stretch westbound. Remember that max range comes with max fuel, which usually means limiting passenger/cargo weight. I'm not sure that there's a current model transport aircraft where you can fill the seats and tanks and be legal. I agree that PHL-Asia would get A350's before PHX-Europe unless an economic meltdown in Asia affected the profitability of Asia flights.

Although PHX-Asia is northwesterly from PHX (not that much different than PHX-ANC), I don't expect to see Asia service till after the A350's arrive and they'll first be used for Europe from the east coast before PHX-Europe. Here's my forecast/timeline, which could change with economic conditions in Europe/Asia:

A332's replace 767's
767 either replace older 757's or go back to leasor's
A350 east coast-Europe, replacing 767's or additional service
A350 east coast-Asia
A350 PHX-Europe
A350 PHX-Asia

Don't confuse less costly and more competitive...better stick to driving your taxi.
