A Manifest is Memo

Manifest? What's that? Is that the paper we used to get from the agent with all the pertinent information we needed? (sarcasm) It's been so long since I have seen one of those. Actually, I take that back. I received one the other day but the printer was barely working and I couldn't read it. It didn't have any gate information on it that I could see. I guess they just don't want us to forget what we used to have - a real airline with a real computer system that actually worked. Or maybe they are rubbing it in our faces. Half the time I don't get any paperwork and when I ask about it they say the computer isn't working. This crap sucks!

Piney, actually my favorite memos are the ones where they threaten us with disciplinary action, especially right before a big holiday. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside to know that I work for a company that truly cares for my well-being.

As an agent, I have to interject here and tell you that 60% of the time the computer system won't work for some uknown reason, meanwhile there is a supervisor squawking at us , the tower is barking at us, the ramp agents are staring at us wondering if we are done, and why am I taking so freaking long? Because every time a flight attendant rolls her eyes at me when I say I tried really hard to get the paper, it SUCKS.

It's as if it's my damn fault, and holy God, if that door isnt shut and plane pushed on time, I'm going to have to explain why I was running from B5 to D13 to find a printer that works because the fa wont shut the door without it. I have to suck up to 1) the tower, 2) the supervisor and then 3) the shift manager. When I finally get your beloved paperwork, I'm going to get another rude look, no thank you, and the door slammed.

Trust me.....truuuust me......I feel ya, but please know that I would rather give you that stupid paperwork than get one more nasty condescending look from an irritated flight attendant. I'm so over it, this crap never happened with Sabre and Im sure it didn't with HP's beloved QIK before the merger either. It's just one of the four billion things we have to adjust to because management thinks it's cheaper to run on 1982 technology. It's happening, it sucks,it's not your fault or mine.

Just remember that when I turn around and go back down the jetbridge I've got about 10 pissed off passengers that JUST ran up wanting to know why the hell I didn't hold the plane - IT WAS RIGHT THERE!!!

And I'll remember you're on your 14th day straight with no sleep and no lunch and maybe we'll all love each other more.

Sometimes one forgets or doesn't know what the other employee is going through. THANK YOU for the explanation and I'm sure more often than not that's what is happening. I do understand how the company is about getting the flights out on time.

Qualified purser program. Immediately. At least on int'l, if not the whole system. Have you seen some of these CSD's/ A's that we have???

Discrimination my fat azzzzz.... You ain't able to qualify, there's a reason.

Please, sooner rather than later.......

Talk about Purser program, I just had a doozie of an A on the 767 the other day. He only flew Int'l A330 as he stated twice. WELL, he took the A position then asked if we knew the video.... I replied, "NOPE". Then asked me to close the door, arm the door, make the "all call", did the arrival etc. I mean really. Then he wanted to switch position with another AFTER arriving in our next city. Have you ever?

Trust me, it was just as sucky before the merger and it happened all the time. It wasnt so much QIK as the equipment. The length of the manifest and stuff listed on it is the same (most of it totally useless, but its being redesigned.) You can only change out the parts in the equipment so much before it all starts to fall apart. We got some of the oldest equipment shipped in that I swear they just scratched out the part number and made up a new one and sent the same pos back to us. Of course the busy, busy, busy timeout is a QIK thing.

Finally! Thank you!! Case in point...."on time every time" program.....the hub has a nice writeup about it online......

how about printers that work, that aren't older than me, and maybe NATIVE SHARES???

Yeah , you nasty little okidata printer!! Im talking to you!! You're right, the jpc crap did get eaten by the printers. But at least I knew exactly where the sweet spot to karate chop it was to get it going again....with Qik it just says "sent to printer" and nothing happens, and then you flip to decs and it works fine......

I know Mister Chairman likes it when you give him his mimosa and thank him by name, but most of the time he's already on his blackberry and didnt hear you anyway.

Can we get some bubble jet action? Okidata needs to be retired.

Well gee, I guess in no wheresville podunk town..you don't have many dupe seats...on RJs...well golly gosh...MAINLINE IS HAVING A NIGHTMARE...AND THE GATE AGENTS WHO COULD FIX IT Don't care. They have been BEAT down to the "I Don't Care Just put a machine out front of the A/C and let the people figure it out. Can you blame them? NO! BTW Where can a guy get a can of paint and some carpet scraps? Your airline...aka USAIRWAYS has the filthiest jetways in the biz. Are you proud of that 30 year old scum that resides on everything? Wow...how many BILLIONS IN THE BANK???? AND DIRT IS THE NAME OF THE GAME. If you are embarrassed...you have a right.
uhhhh...here in podunkville as you so eloquently put it, RJS don't get prelims and finals....so I was talking mainline jackal...I dont take care of the jetways so how about back on topic...
Why is it you slam someone-in podunks town-? I guess we still care....? Are we embarrassesd? You bet but what the heck do you want us to do---give up? You sound just like the pax yesterday that told us gate agents we run the airline-his flight to PHL was delayed due to low ceilings-and that we could change his departure time.
Botom line you don't want your prelim-then throw it away. You don't want your final, then throw it away.

You guys haven't seen anything yet. Since we had to switch to CLP (central load planning), do you know how many departures take delays off the gate waiting for "the final numbers" MANY. One 757 was number 2 for t/o had to wait so long for the numbers that he finally had to pull off the taxiway and did a GTB for more fuel because both engines were running.

Why are we having this problem? When we had CLP/Sabre/Decs before we didnt have this much of a problem with weight and balance issues. Never before have I seen so many flights that require ALL customer to sit in the back of the plane too. We never had this problem before either. Something since the merger/cutover is affecting this. Something needs to be done. I'm tired of all the prereserved seats in the front being canx only to have to reseat the people in row 25 or behind. Also, quit telling the gate AT DEPARTURE TIME or after the plane has pushed that we need to move 20 people behind row 15. Just another thing to add to the "laughingstock" category.

I was just on a 757 the other day where every passenger but 10 were in C zone due to weight and balance. What the hell. Please don't try to justify this crap system. A turd is a turd is a turd.

For Real!! I was thinking the same exact thing, last week on the 57 we had to move like 25 people behind row 15. I said "what is this a CRJ"??? It has big Rolls Royce engines and can fly accross the ocean, she didn't know the difference before and she won't now!!! I mean really. I was b!#@hing to some friends out West about this and they said they used to do it all the time when they had to wait on some ramp guy to fill out a piece of paper with the W&B on it. The said it would be like 5 or 10 min after departure time and they would always be waiting on this and then they would come up and tell the crew they would have to move people.

It was the funniest thing I have seen in a long time. It was like we were all "Big Pimpin" in the back while the other 10 were spotted throughout the B zone. This place is ran by a bunch of crack heads, drunks and college idiots who couldn't get hired at the local Target.
