Bob Owens,

I am having a hard time getting a read on you. Where are you in this whole issue of support. Are you pro AMFA?

Just curious.

I read a statement issued by you here...

http://labornotes.or...ol-crack-unions

Unless this is not really you on this site?

“Taking a long-term view, the American bankruptcy is a very positive thing,” a Boeing executive told Reuters. The aircraft maker expects billions of dollars in plane orders from American once its court-ordered restructuring is complete.

“It’s like they decided they don’t want to pay the mortgage so they can go out and buy a couple of hot new cars,” said Bob Owens, an American mechanic and president of Transport Workers Local 562 in New York.

American also wants to lay off 13,000 workers—16 percent of the workforce. It will try to end pensions and retiree health care for 130,000 current and former workers, offloading $9 billion in unfunded pension obligations to a federal insurance agency.

After clawing out $1.8 billion in concessions in 2003, American says labor costs must drop by another 20 percent.

You sound reasonable, yet you seem to fall in with many association supporters on this site. What gives?
He was an AMFA guy. He flip flops a lot. Much like his buddy Ken MacTiernan.

The answer is not to lower wages but to organize the places where the jobs are going.

Once we get into AMFA they will have the resurces to start organizing the unorganized. All the mechanics in the industry in one union! The way it should be. The TWU will never offer this to us, instead they will use our dues money to organize casino workers, security guards and wharehouse workers. None of these groups can give us the support that our fellow mechanics could.

Overspeed, is that re-post supposed to change anybody's opinon? You really are clueless.

None of them can defend the fact that the majority of the profession or craft and class has been represented by the industrial unions for 60 years while they freely admit that their jobs have "gotten worse". So they have no choice but to resort to personal attacks.

Just identifying who the truly spineless and manipulative people are. No, I think most people have made up their minds. When faced with an alternative to AMFA they will run. When the crew I was on found out about the IBT drive they couldn't wait to sign those cards. They know AMP/AMFA is no solution to their concerns. Yep, the members would rather go industrial than craft.

I guess the next logical question is why aren't you and the teamsters banging the drum for Mr SMITH

An excellent question.

Notice the typical teamster response from Anomaly.

He presses the question post after post in some ludicrous attempt to find fault, yet turn the question back on him and the ibt and suddenly you're being told to shut up.

a typical teamster at his best.

Are you not the same character who claimed to be a day shft, general, crew chief in D termina at DFW?

Dancing With Wolves? Seriously? That is the best you can do?
I wasn't trying to best you. That never occurred to me to best you. You are not the problem or the answer. You are only one. Why are there not hundreds or thousands on this board supporting the Teamsters or the industrial union position?

Lol just screwing with ya dude?

Glad to hear that Overspeed. Hope you do not make the same AMFA mistake we did.

I am willing to bet that when the Teamsters campaign starts picking up speed, this guy will weasel his way in to supporting the IBT. I hate these kinds of "leaders". They are in for self preservation. We had them at AMFA and we have some here too. Unfortunately, elections don't get rid of them. Bob Owens's of the world will always be around.
