I'll retire with AA. I'll bet that beats....the 44K.

I hope you're right, but....Never be too certain of what the future holds for anyone kid. We humans are always at our most foolish whenever fantasizing about times to come. "You'se" were all equally sure about how the nic was going to work out all the way back in 2007. How'd that go for you? Even just assuming now "normal" statistics; some of you will go out on medicals or worse prior to ever reaching retirement. Today/Right Now is all the warranty anyone ever gets. Enjoy every day as best you can.

It seems like you have a problem with the Philly update and Ted Reed.

No. This is just another typical case of your having no idea whatsoever of what you're taking about. Nothing new to see there.

It appears you must be talking about yourself. Or taking to yourself..again.

East Cheats,
Most east pilots that retire at age 65 will receive about 44K per year. That's in stone. The attempt is to be able to receive that at age 60. Hope this helps. Go to google and search for PBGC. (Put that $675 into your 401K!)

Do those morons actually think east pilots over the age of 60 who apply for it are not already receiving PBGC money?  They've been paying for years already, and every east pilot who was fully vested in the DB plan when it was terminated will receive that money.  The amount depends only on the pilot's age when applying for it.

I think there is a greater chance for a blizzard in Aruba in July than this legislation passing, at least with the current make-up of Congress.  We know how supportive the current majority party is of everything union.  IMHO, the APA should save the $15K per month (an incredibly large amount) and spend it on something more useful to the members.

Well, perhaps I should have phrased it a bit less gently, so the chances of "you'se" comprehending any of it could have been at least a little higher. EastCheats: "East pilots get the PBGC guarantee? If they are guaranteed their guarantee then why is it still in court?" Nycbusdriver sums your "understanding" up better than I did: "Do those morons actually think east pilots over the age of 60 who apply for it are not already receiving PBGC money?"

Pretty much.

For $15K a month the union could form a committee to study the differences between a capitulation and a negotiation.... It would be an effective distraction from the fact we had a vice & prez that punked us and campaigned for a management promotion.

There was no daylight between DUI's negotiating position and the Vice Prez C&R posts. The only day light between Kirby and the Prez was about a weeks worth of time disputing the hour of our capitulation to get about a month of retro... and even after "winning" retro nobody knows when we get the trophy.

Yet again EastCheats reminds us why we need more money in public education!
That's for sure, definitely not the smartest, I bet he bought two of those 675 dollar ties.

He sure luvs his little smiley faces, simple mind.

East cheats cannot understand that 10 yrs of PBGC is 440k. East cheats cannot figure out that east pilots can be taking PBGC at the same time they work at the airline.
He simply fixates on some idiotic topic, and flaps his jaws.
Senior west pilots have been denied years of 330 pay because of these angry opportunists.
A 2004 hire has screwed them over. His name is Eric Ferguson.
Marty and Eric have wasted millions of dollars and all they have to show for it are ties that identify them as stupid sheep.

Run along and Google yourself or Claxon
It appears that you still don't understand that it's not "all about you". Entitlement has a blinding effect, eh?

See if you can handle this math:

A330 FO rate is $194/hr
Intl override, just over $4/hr

that equates to about $198k per year

add in just under $29k/yr from PBGC....(that's if you choose to draw PBGC before age 65) The minimum correction that the lawsuit hopes to achieve is to show that any pilot over age 60 can draw the $44,k, instead of being penalized for drawing early, between 60-65 yrs old. There is more to the suit than that, tho.

And the answer is: $227k/yr

Now, why would anyone want to fly your worn out A319s in the left seat, working 18 days a month doing all red-eyes?

I for one, am a happy camper. Of course, that's just me.

Don't worry about me.

It seems like you are trying to convince yourselves that things are hunky-dory when the Philly update says otherwise.

Yes, east pilots are concerned. For you. Seeing the recent new hires are heading to the 330 right seat, and small bus left seat.
And the longer tenured east pilots will get the 44 k a year from the PBGC.
Quite a lot to worry about.

That's the point, things are hunky-dory......even if the lawsuit doesn't bear fruit. But the PBGC did screw the pouch and needs to answer for their mistakes.

Good luck to you.....you probably have many years left here and will be fine, I'm not worried.
