12:20 P.m. Uair: $1.70, Down 0.15 (8.11%)

Well,

While the fate of LOA 91 was up in the air, there were those who said the uncertainty was driving the price down - clearly not the case.

After LOA 91 passes, some said that it would be viewed as positive news by the financial community - clearly not the case.

On the other hand, all airlines are down today (on oil price fears, apparently).

Im sure it has nothing to do with the fact that UAIR mentioned a 2nd BANKRUPTCY is real posibility in their last 10K...

You know what happens to Stock Holders during BK?? All the longs are selling, no one want to be left holding the bag.. Except the unions.

Never gamble on the stock market

Well, labor's return in stock from Summer 2002 agreement and Winter 2002, just went down the tubes AGAIN.

Zero confidence in management and their ability to get the unions to agree to concessions. Everyone is at fault.

Is the market predicting bankruptcy 6 months out?

UAIR will be in its 2nd BK by the middle of Sept. Thats 4 months. I think its going to happen because BK is the only way the labor contracts will get negotiated in a mannor that will allow profitability..

USAIR employees are not slaves, they can leave if they do not feel they are paid enough.. If they are worth what they say, then they should have no problem finding work elsewhere.

I don't know, it's probably revenue management's fault that they can't get the RASM up to 13 cents just so they can make a tiny profit...(note heavy sarcasm)

The USairways stock is down to $1.54. This stock has closed down for the last ten days and seems to be dropping 10 cents a day. If this keeps up in 15 business days, 3 weeks from now, stock will be worthless. At this point, $ 0.00, is US Airways finished?

Stocks, move in terms of %. Lately U has been going down approx. 10%. So when it gets down to $0.50 for !0% loss it will only lose $0.05
Not that by any means I'm in favor of this stock.

Exactly. If it was a pure management issue, the analysts would have said that. They haven't. Instead, Wall Street has a lack of confidence in the ability to get costs back into line where they need to be in order to compete.

The Wall Streeters were not born yesterday and are paid $$$ to make the decisions and analysis that they make. They could care less who they like (Siegel/Lakefield or union heads). Their interest lies in the ability of the company as a going concern to continue functioning.

And, universally, they have identified cost reduction as the #1 priority. They recognize that revenue yields are NOT going to do it.

As to share value, if the prices drops well into the pennies, it will be delisted from the NASDAQ. That is not fatal as the company has well over $1B in cash.

The stock will simply not trade on the main market.
