Yes America, you are stupid

The mantra of the Right.

If we succeed it is through our own hard work and smarts.

If we don't, it is the gummint's fault.

That is some personal responsibility.

Ain't no mantra......little kids have been getting turned out lacking for sometime and all you can do is attempt to blame it on the right?

Like I asked before,Dog......who is at fault....the little children?......

Who blamed it on the Right? They take no responsibility for anything that doesn't work. That is somebody else's fault

Education is a choice. If an effort isn't made. it doesn't happen.

Ironic how personal responsibility cuts both ways.

This is getting just a tiny bit asinine folks. An 8th grader is not exactly well versed in the concept of individual responsibility. Neither would a 1st grader or any other grade for that matter. Very few kids have a natural thirst for knowledge. The rest have to be pushed along oft times kicking and screaming to literacy.

When parents abdicate their authority to a Teacher whose goal is not to educate but to increase his.her earnings through activism in the NEA or AFT then we get what we have now. We end up with SLOTH, from administrators, teachers, guidance counselors, parents and then we act surprised that our kids are emulating the adults around them.

So if you're out fornicating, adulterating and procreating as a married couple without birth control you'd best be ready for a "Little Billy" or 3 to become a part of your life for the next 18 to 25 years or so. Additionally you better prepare the little prick to survive and hopefully thrive in this world as he's going to be the one paying YOUR Social Security.

It may or may not take a village to raise a child. However I can sure as hell tell you that if you leave the development of your child in the hands of teacher with conflicting objectives you will be sorely disappointed. A teacher today is beholden to the NEA, Local School Board, uncaring parents and finally the child and whether he/she learns anything.

Being a public school teacher is often a thankless job. However you have to look at the position they're in and ask why did they allow it to become this way?

Need I say anymore, Dog?

Education is not a choice, it is a government mandate from local through federal levels.

So where does stupidity come in? Detroit schools for for example?

Funny, the law firm of Duck,Dodge and Hyde are democrats............

My first hand experience, having raised four kids, is not consistent wth yours. Parenting makes a difference, but kids have a natural curiousity about the world. Why? is part of their vocabulary.

I have also fought with school districts. The kids had good, and bad teachers. Not from split allegiance between education and unionism, more of a Will to Power.

The battles were with administrators determined to preserve the status quo (administrators are not union). Why no gifted program? We never had one.

You are right, not in a Delldude way, that parents make a difference. The decision makers charged with, and paid well for, the responsibility for effective schools are the administrators. They would rather preserve the status quo than do their jobs.

Our kids are alright. They learned personal responsibility was a duty. Pointing fingers at others for failure was not.

But with that said.....Left always takes credit happily for things that have no chance of surviving.

Sure you aren't talking about DNC?

It always comes back to the blame game...Demorats vs Re-pube-lickins! Who sucks and who blows? It depends on who sees the trees añd who sees the forest

Take for example a family of four, Mom, Dad, wo Teens and all find a job at minimum wage. Minimum wage x 4 = $30.00 per hour or $1,200/wk and in some areas of the US one can buy a modest home and live OK. OK so the family now has a foothold in the US and the kids go off to school and still work their 40 hours, Dad and Mom aren't stupid and as their English improves so do their wages and pretty soon Dad get's a job paying $12/hr and so on. For this family the American Dream is alive and well. While we may laugh & joke at the size of their modest house which might not be in the best area for them it's manna from Heaven as it has the following.
Electricity
Cold & HOT running Water
Indoor plumbing
Flush Toilet
Roof that doesn't leak
A floor that isn't dirt
A car that is owned and sits in the driveway

See it's not where you start the race it's where you finish the race and the family in the example could very well be the story of any of our parents, grandparents or even ourselves. Opportunity exists here! It's often to bad that those who seize that opportunity are here illegally. But that says more about us then it does them

But in another post you said the American Dream was a myth.
