WSJ: Delta, TPG Assessing Bids for American Airlines

Delta's mechs are non-union? If we merged we would have to vote on union representation?
<_< ------ With no Union, no seniority problems! -----Just no seniority!!!!

You won't have to worry about it. Delta is non union and there is no way they will allow any union members (past or present) to contaminate their workforce. They are seeking to buy us to eliminate us from competition. Think about it......... We are the lowest paid (mechanics anyway) in the industry and we do our own maint. This is already tough to compete with and the wages and benefits will get worse really soon. If they buy us out and get rid of us then there is a bigger piece of the pie for them. If Delta buys us out, we are not going to have jobs. Just my opinon.
I agree non of us will be around. I was at pan am when they pulled the same thing and they cherry picked which ones stayed. If anyone has any great illusions that they are keeping 11000 mechs you need to have your head examined. They most likely are interested in the south American routes so maybe they keep the mia hub.

Ok I buy almost all of that. Do you think that as a ex-TWA that you will recieive your full seniority starting with TWA or wherever you started?

Delta doesn't want union guys? Well maybe in a perfect world for them. How do you explain the merger with Western Airlines back in 86? Western was heavily unionized, and more recently Northwest Airlines, also heavily unionized. The workforce at Delta is contaminated already.

<_<------ My TWA seniority date was 1968! What do you think?------ But then again, I'm retired, so seniority no longer is an issue for me. But "if" someone like Delta should buy out AA AMR, it will be interesting to see how the seniority is handled. I would just hope you'd fair better than we did!!!

Eventually, yes...
To use round numbers, DL has about 6000 M&R compared to AA's approximately 11,000, and yes, there would be an election. The real shame would be if the TWU won that election.
Or no union....

Btw way all you "experts" never saw this coming. All you were reapting was what some "know-it-all" annalist was saying :D

What a way to ruin a good airline...they may decide to cherry pick...stranger things could happen..or have the "acquired" company file bk to get leases in better order and labor more in line...oh gee, deja vu...

Actually the know it all was quite transparent in his lust for AA. Most folks here loved his bashing US's interest in AA but his bashing was about his wanting AA's assets for DL.
I will say once again that no one knows for sure what's gonna happen in this filing.

just heard Donald Trump wants to buy Delta & AA combined......then wants to personally fire Horton on the "Apprentice". lol

Boy, I'll tell ya....all you analysts out there keep your day job because you're beginning to sound like AA management!!

A merger, I know that Delta would drastically reduce DFW, like AA reduced STL. A lot of heads rolling at DFWHQ. :D
