Work Rules...

I don't work for Airways, so your comments do not apply to me! I do know ******* militant mentality when I see it! You did not answer my question. If you don't want to take anymore concessions and hate Seigel/Airways as much as you say, why don't you quit? You've already said you have three skillsets and experience, so why stay with a sinking ship (as you imply). If more of you continuously negative employees would walk the plank, maybe the ship would have a better chance of staying afloat! Life is short, why be miserable? Ball's in your court slick! ;)
I have been furloughed from Airways for a little over two years(mechanic w/12 years). I used to talk the same talk these guys are talking. All I can say is that is a cruel world out there.
geezlouis..you are a liar
this is a previous post from the thread who we are-post number 100915
now in this current thread you claim to not be an employee of us airways.... how do you explain this current post now where you claim to not be an employee of us airways?
I don't work for Airways, so your comments do not apply to me! of course,i should have known...you are on furlough so technically you are not an employee...oh my goodness i should have known.
i smell a company plant here folks!
i also see you use the same post/response to everyone...get a life my friend.
i hear theres some work out there..look into it....

I figured it out!!!!!

We can all work for half as much for twice as much while paying twice as much to

receive half as much

No wait, were almost there now

Yet the song remains the same.......our labor costs are still too high <_<

Here's a riddle: When will Dave include EXECUTIVE COMPENSATION figures into

the overall HIGH cost of labor that we are continually hearing about???

Well Dave????? Yeah....right. It's the cost of doing business you HYPOCRITE

Lead by example and maybe you will get somewhere <_<

you know what pit guy . now you are getting personal . and i do not apreciate that. i have a child and he does call me daddy and everytime he sais it its with a smile. you know why . because his daddy is doing everything he can to provide a life for his kid. so that everything my son needs i can provide to him. so if any one is spineless is its you dude. all i want is to see this company succeed what so wrong about that? its no sense talking to you guys because you will never change. i respect your opinions. thats what makes this country a great one . everyone can express what they want. it doesen't mean we all have to agree. but in the end i am sure we can all sit down together and have a beer.
etops1,

"All you want is the company to succeed"? What's wrong with that?

It depends....

What do you want for the employees of U? To succeed too, with a "livable wage job" here"? Or not? To have affordible health care, or not? To support their sons too? or not? Or, is that fruitfulness a trickle down effect to the mangement end of the equation? And if your mangement? Then that'd be you...right?

Now, I get it.

How about this Shirley??

I believe if someone could do a real cost/revenue analysis on just the effects of the CWA contract at these new expressed cities, they would see it is truly losing more than saving.. Just add up the cost of all the severances for furloughs and training for newhires (hotels and per diem), which are quitting at an alarming rate, as well as the once loyal customers who are not amused, relocation cost of forced transfers.

I'ts a revolving door at the express cities...Job openings are in the papers all the time..Just ask HR what the quality of applicants are like...

Just return the Mainline Express pay to Mainline pay, could actually reduce total cost and enhance customer service to bring back lost customers...What do think??
OK...I know.....Dream On.......Just a thought....

Oh hear is another little change that AFA needs to throw to management.......get rid of that crazy extra $6 CSD pay on the transatlantic division. It makes no sence to pay $6 extra just to be responsible for a little extra paperwork. Yeah I know that you are going to Europe, but cmon, your still FLYING like the rest of us on domestic. The A on domestic makes between 2.50 and 3.00 per flight hour. CSDs should get the same. Just think of how much money can be saved!

Repeet,

The sad thing is...U has an enormous data bank of preferred members who have reduced or no longer choose Usairways, say nothing about consumer affairs files with multiple complaints on inexperienced agents at expressed cities.

Sometimes ya got ta spend $$ to save $$...or in this case, make even more $$...

Heard an eagent the other day in PHL say, they have over 300 miss-contects aa day. Talk about losing our Customers and having complaints. Was also walking to INternatinal side at PHL and 2 couples walking my way were griping the whole way about how little time they had to make a connection, especially from concourse B or C to the A. Heard them comment about not flying us again. Just kept my mouth shut and kept on truckin'. :(

The very question how how long it would take to recover the cost of "mainline expressing" the station (given the very factors you mention) was asked of a regional director during the station closing meeting at a station in New England last year. The response "I don't have that information".

The furlough and training costs are rather finite, predictable costs (unlike the harder to define costs like lost customers, ticketing errors made by new hires, and the like). Yet the director did not have the information. Or claimed not to.

I do believe that the turn over factor for mainline express was under estimated by the company. (more training costs, more lost revenue due to inexperienced staff).

But many in management see only the difference between $20.00/hr and $13.00/hr (Mainline Exp Top of scale) or $8.81/hr Mainline express starting pay).

We are getting away from "work rules". What do CO, NW, AA do differently from the "outdated" work rules that US has?
