Work Rules...

i had e-mailed jerry glass about the itd fence and rotating reserve system. he said that a fence does not fit in this day and age . moving foward we need to create a more efficient ops and removal of the fence is one of those items that the company needs. i also asked about a rotating reserve system. he said that a rotating reserve system would not be out of the question provided it does not interfere with the efficiencies that a reserve system should have. infact, they would gladly sit down and negotiate it with the union.
now. i asked why we did not get rid of the fence in 2004. i was told that they tried to but could not get afa to agree. i also spoke to a union rep about a rotating reserve system. the union rep told me that he brought the issue up to the union leaders in a meeting but the union leaders refused to bring up the issue to management. citing that it would be a seniority violation. once again the union protecting the senior group and stomping on the junior people. now i got all this from a union rep.
also i feel that we should go to a system like the way ual has. not staying with the pilots everywhere we go and also jumping ship meaning we don't stay with the same crew and a/c. my wife flies for ual and she did a trip where she was supposed to fly the redeye from sfo to jfk ron in jfk then fly back to sfo. a simple 2 day trip. instead when she was on her layover in jfk she was called and told that she was not working the flt back to sfo. instead she was going to lhr. so her 2day trip turned into a 4 day trip. it may sound like too much, but hey. all i want to be is productive . if i am there and legal well then use me. meaning they utilize there f/a better. many may not agree but i am willing to that if it means it will help in the survival of this company.

i had e-mailed jerry glass> That was your first mistake!

once again the union protecting the senior group> Duh Do you not understand the concept, didn't they explain that when you were hired?

it means it will help in the survival of this company> Translation; I will do ANYTHING so I can have a job and Jerry Glass LOVES ME

Let the others do it then. That way the mechanic can go sit down and watch them do it while they are BOTH getting paid
Thank you for proving my point. Yet again, Cavalier challenges moon rocks for the most cogent argument.

The only thing on the moon is you and your cohorts at CCY

The Mechanics do not wave the wands Itrade. The Ramp does that. Mechanics per the contract only drive the pushback tug during departure and in PIT that does not happen very often either. It is all done by the Ramp which makes a few stones less than the Mechanics per hour.

you know what cav kiss my DELETED BY MODERATOR. if you don't want this company to succeed then get out!!!. i have a family and yes i meaning me because you are not going to pay my bills or raise my 2 year old if this company goes under. so i f i have to do anything reasonable to save it, i will. and you may say " there he goes thinking about himself" well thats right you "deleted by me" i am thinking of me and my family. because the last time i checked the i did not get a paycheck from the union i got a paycheck from usairways. in fact i have to pay this union 39 bucks a month to represent me. well nice job they are doing at that . so don't tell me what was is a mistake and what isn't . your a mistake. you Deleted.

ATTENTION: Here is another gutless wonder who believes that their very existence hinges on the fact they must bent over as far as possible and as often as possible as this management deems necessary, because they say so. The team we have in place are masters at, as our one big poster coined, FUD, and it is working beautifully here in this example as we all can plainly see. This poor disillusioned soul we have here believes their existence was made possible Jerry Glass & company and therefore they must succumb to any and every demand no matter how wrong or twisted or evil or vile. This team will be awarded a blue ribbon for the physiological damage they have caused in the name of corporate American profits.

its not about that at all. its about being reasonable. its about people's jobs people's family and there lively hood. if you can't see that well that's your problem. listen in am not saying that what management is doing i right . but there are many things that this company has to do to change and turn around. we have been spoiled for a long time at airways. its not about bending over its about opening your eyes and seeing reality. pride will only get you so far my friend but in the long run it can take you to the unemployment line. pride does not pay the bills. and if there is a poor dilusional soul here its you . cause when you are at home waiting for that unemployment check lets see who is going to be poor. <_<

Three words -

Receive and Dispatch.
US Airways flies into 89 mainline stations, Ramp service does the R&D where staffed.

Where not staffed a vendor does it.

At BOS, DCA, LGA, PIT, CLT and PHL mechanics do the driving of the pushback unit when available.

Right, and basically every US Airways flight touches those six airports.

ITRADE, since every airplane needs to have daily check and when you only have 18 maintenance stations so by FAA and US Airways maintenance procedures it has to be seen by ONE of US Airways' mechanic to be legal to fly. In CLT there are 8 mechanics on B-con and 8 mechanics on C-con to cover 16 and 18 gates respectivly, do all the daily checks and fix the broken airplanes, do the math, there are no EXTRA staffing for the dispatch of planes.

etops1,

Please have a little faith in yourself. There is and will be life after this place. I believe employees deserve better than this.

While not staying with the same cockpit crew has it's advantages many would not like that system as there are many times when the F/A's have no idea what the pilots even look like as they change so often and now it's not too often you see them in the cabin. I may never know whether or not they have survived a accident as I have no idea what they look like. You also might remember the NW FA who was dead in her hotel (dtw) room only to be found by the maid as the crew had no idea she was with their crew since she was a "add" flight attendant.

As for UAl's rules I hardly think any UAL flight attendant would agree that a 2 day trip changing into a 4 day trip is a good thing. What happens to the single parent that now has to call her sitter hoping they will be able to cover the extra days? At my carrier that's why they call them scr** scheduling. Think about this one as once you give them that flexibilty you will never get it back.

I have three (3) skills under my belt with years of experience to back them up. I have never been unemployed and never will be, and therein lies our differences because I know my self worth, do you?

We have an inept management team in place. All unions gave unheard of concessions, making history. All other airlines showed a profit WITHOUT those advantages. Our management team breaks every concessionary contract we signed wanting even more, breaking the promises that enabled them to receive what they did from labor. They use heavy handed tactics to bring people like myself inline with their twisted vision of what labor should be. They even have outside experts in the industry giving them bad marks for their ineptitude. And then we have people like you who just want to get along, make it work, the Rodney King thing of “why can’t we all just get alongâ€￾ syndrome. When intelligent people read our posts, I am confident they will know who is rational and who is the fool.

if this incompetent mgmt team of thieves and cba breakers want productive changes, then they can change the way they work--no bonuses per qtr losses, get
these small-med. stations that are so-called mainline express (i work in one) back into the mainline stations, stop letting planes sit on the ground for hrs and hrs.
I believe that the more an aircraft sits on the ground, the more money we lose.
notice how swa doesnt let their planes sit at the gate more than 30 to 45 minutes.
it is a no wonder that they make money
