WOLFOWITZ to QUIT by 6/30 !

Back then gas was 15 cents a gallon and there were gas wars. Amazing what happens when a non-renewable resource gets used up. "She'll be sad, sad, sad when daddy takes the Yukon away."

Enjoy the ride geezer, ever seen a lugage rack on a hearse?

Ahhh...but we CAN take it with us...burn all the oil today and then die. What could be nicer??? Although I think our kids might have a few choice words for us...but we only think about their saftey (thus the Expedition for 2.1 kids)...what they'll use to get from point A to point B is not our concern...neither is the air they breathe as adults.

KC, 'I feel your pain' :p especially at the gas pump!

Seriously though with the worlds population explosion and no way to stabilize its growth (barring wars, famines, diseases) etc.. we are headed for disaster. I hate to be the bearer of bad news and crush your utopian dreams but Oil in my opinion will be the least of mankinds problems in another century provided we're still here.

The human population on our planet has increased tremendously over the last 200 years. So much so, that only 40 years ago, we had less than half the people on the planet than we have here today. Each second, we are adding almost three people to the earth. In other words, we are increasing our population by 170 people per minute, 10,000 per hour, and an astounding 240,000 per day. In October of 1999, we broke the (6,000,000,000) humans barrier.

Since 1999 we have added another (602,224,175) and counting... thats well over a half billion in 8 years. I read somewhere that the planets resources could sustain no more than 10 billion, now you do the math.

Hey but who cares?...Paris Hilton got outta jail early only to be thrown back in! ;)

The discussion was about the price of "gasoline," not the price of oil. Although closely related, they do not always work in tandem (ex. gas prices take much longer to drop after the price of oil drops as compared to when gasoline prices increase when the price of oil increases).

Also, adjusted for inflation, this May the average cost of gasoline topped the 1981 spike that held the previous record.

Price of Gas

Does it really matter whether it's the price of gasoline or the price of oil? As you pretty much already said one follows the other. Besides, the point that I was trying to make was that if NHBB believes that the GOP and big oil are conspiring to keep prices high and the Democrats will change that then please explain Dec 1979.

Here’s what I find interesting about NHBB thinking that the Democrats would actually do something about gas prices. The Democrats say that they are the party that’s for the environment and conservation. However if they were to do what NHBB thinks they should that would be sort of a contradiction. If prices were to go down to the level of the late 90’s do you think that would encourage people to conserve? Not that the Democrats could do anything other than to repeal gas taxes and dump the entire strategic oil reserve.
