Will Maa Move?

Chautauqua is using SDF as their new base, I doubt MDA will move there.

Are we down that low, 700? I thought there were more than that. Although come this fall, I would expect us (Mainline) to be down to around 50. It will be interesting to see the trip sheets coming out in the next couple of months. Iam talking Pit, mind you.

On the average in Pit there are around 100 trips a day for F/A's. Mon-Wed. you rarely have anymore than around 20 at the most trips for Reserves, 13 being OPR positions, depending on coverage. Sometimes they elimate some OPR to keep reserves around. When you reach the week-end things pick up for reserves. They may have 40-50 trips to choose from, still counting OPR.

Every month trip sheets get smaller and smaller, so I can see that downsizing Pit has been a slow progression. :(

MDA will have 39 aircraft before the end of the year and 85 aircraft by the fall of 2005. Although future schedules are still under consideration, it’s probable that MDA flight crews will be based in the two hubs and four focus cities.

Furthermore, MDA may take some of the current mainline flight crew positions when the company expands its flight schedule in Boston, New York, Philadelphia, and Washington

In regard to training and office facilities, US Airways will likely move from the former Carnot School, where flight attendants are trained, and the McCormick School, which is used as a training center for pilots, with all flight crew training then conducted in Charlotte. The leases on the buildings, which US Airways has used at least 20 years, have been month to month - only because the district hasn't been able to reach any other agreement with the airline.

Moreover, the EMB-170 simulator is being installed in Charlotte.

It appears that the Pittsburgh simulator building, Carnot and McCormack Training Center, Greentree Reservation facility, the catering facility. Moreover, its possible the maintenance operation will close -- dependent upon labor negotiations.

However, some of the RIDC Park West offices such as Dispatch could remain in Pittsburgh.

Finally, the company does not want to sell the unit, but LOA 91 permits the sale of MDA with pilot transfer the the acquiring business entity. According to the AFA E-Line, Bruce Lakefield stated that he doesn't see his mission as selling the airline off (mainline or MDA), either in whole or in parts.

There is your UCT/ICT, Mesa will buy us since MDA DOES NOT have its own certificate, it operates off of mainlines!

Regardless of labor negotiations they will close maintenance operations whenever they want. Tpa is a classic example of that. Usairways doesn't want us anymore. To them maintenance on the payroll is more of a burden than a luxury. Thats what this company has come to. The almighty dollar $$$ has overtaken safety and reliabilty. :(

If the IAM wins the Airbus arbitration, the maintenance facility will stay in PIT, as the tracks will be needed and the company lacks the cash, credit, faith, or standing to get their hands on another one in the requisite time period.
