Why US Airways Shunned Northwest for Delta

I'll tell you short and sweet why he chose delta. There will be votes for union and non-union representation. He doesnt want unions, and he may just get what he wants if the IAM doesnt please there members soon.

I'll tell you short and sweet why he choose Delta. There will no vote for representation by any emplouees. All current Delta employees will fall under the current union at USAirways in their classification if that classification is currently represented by a USAirways union. No vote needed.

Given that the Delta groups collectively are larger than the US+HP groups, what makes you think they won't (with the obvious exception of the pilots) force a representation vote?

That would make Parker even happier.

I'm staying out of this discussion other than to note that you can't assume the DL groups are larger than the US/HP groups simply by counting the *active* employees. For purposes of this, the NMB also includes furloughed employees with recall rights. In particular, that will greatly add to the numbers of US/HP flight attendants and fleet service workers; I'm not sure if or how it will affect the DL numbers.
