Several years ago NW amt's took a big chance and did the right thing for our industry and voted in AMFA and was reworded with an industry leading pay scale. No airline wanted to accept the facft that an amt, line or hangar, was skilled and worthy of the wage we ALL deserve. We all stick or neck out to make these acft fly airworthy and safely. In order to make it to a major we did our time to gain the experience needed for the type of acft flown and passed interviews with questions asked that could only be answered by somebody that had truly gained the experience they were looking for. Now "we" had spent years with these airlines working the acft and it was obvious that the monitory compinsation was lacking. The only amt's that steppedd up to the plate was NW! Much thanks to them, the other majors slowly began to increase compinsation and all of the industry would eventully, slowly, follow to some extent "the increasing curve". If left alone, the true financial compinsation deserved for ALL amt's, was finally on it's way. Well it wasn't left alone and it ended up being some very near sited "brothers/sisters" of our trade to knock the building blocks out from under us all that the NW amt's had the courage to put up. I would have to say that most SCABs lack the experience to make it into a major and saw this as a short cut to "get in" without truly doing there time. The rest of them had probably been fired from one and couldn't get back in. Well, this does have consequences. For one, the SCABs have destroyed the upswinging momentum of financial compinsation for ALL amt's. Another is the SCABs have sold there souls for a short cut to the majors. Why? NOBODY FORGETS!!! The time of employment spent as a SCAB will have to be accounted for, especially if you are thinking using some of your "newly acquired" experience for a future interview. The dates don't lie and you will not pass another interview. Let's just say on a chance you make it, the coworkers WILL find out and they WILL turn on you until you quit or get fired, I have seen this! SCABS, you have sold your soul and you will for ever wear the "proverbial" scarlet letter!!! North West amt's, thank you for doing the right thing then and now! SCABs, for your short sited grab, you couldn't even begin to emagine the thousands of amt's in other air lines that actually hate you for what you have done.
