Why All The Cancelled Flights Out Of Mia Today?

Lots of cancellations today out of MIA. Is it weather or short crews or both?

If its like DFW yesterday I would say crews. However, the weather in MIA is bad also so may be a combination

The baggage system stopped working yesterday and lots of problems getting flights out on time. Probably similar problem today still and they are thinning the schedule to ease the pain and reduce delays.

Weather was pretty bad earlier (I'm about 15 mi south of MIA), so that may have had an effect too.

Bad weather happens. B)

We got in at 1 and we were told to expect a hour, to an hour and a half wait for a gate. Word was the airport was closed for several hours earlier in the day. We lucked out and got a gate after only 15 mins while others were still out there from a hour prior. The inside was a zoo! 81 flights cancelled and the line at the counter was out the door long. Luckey to have missed it all.
