Which Maintenance Base?

Any new news? I see quite a few 767's parked up there (at MCIE) as I drive by. Still no AA logo painted on the front of the hangar. What is up?

Could it be that none of the 3 closes, and AA just extracts savings from each of the cities?

I have a better idea. Close everything, farm out all the maintenance to these third party fly by night outfits down south in florida or Alabama. Labor is cheap down there. The quality of work coming out of these places is lousy, but who cares, the work is down cheaply.

What will put a stop to it though, is the first plane crash as a result of vender maintenance.Anyone remember Valujet?

Hey, as an Alabama native, I don't appreciate the comment. Now, the south Florida comment makes sense

If general populace intelligence counts, I would be more concerned with Texas maintenance sites. Look at what we elect to our state Legislature (and I mean ALL of them, not just Dems or Republicans). If we can't pick any better than that, should we be allowed to handle sharp objects or jet a/c engines?

It's true that legally Alabama is a right-to-work state. However, until corporate bigwigs sent most union jobs overseas or ceded their business to foreign competition, Alabama was the most unionized state in the South. U.S. Steel's largest plant outside of Pittsburgh was in Birmingham; massive coal-mining operations, etc.

I believe the operative words are "was the most unionized state".

And I believe ALABAMA is not the only "right to work cheaper State!" Shall we persue this futher?

I believe AA knows exactly what they are going to do. They tell us that this fall they will have made their decision..yeah right...like we don't realize the summer is their revenue generating timeand they need all to keep their money rolling in. Try getting a flight out of here..

And believe it or not...there is still some worth in the mechanics @ MCI..first off..we didn't sell your seniority down the toilet, you sold ours...our unionism integrity is still in tact...Your answers to company issues is to change unions, or attempt to, midstream...company has to love that.

Will AMFA get my seniority back...seem to missing 23 years...have you seen it?
