Where Is The Afl-cio?

In light of what is going on at UAL with the steps of eliminating the pension being taken, WHERE IS THE AFL- CIO IN ALL THIS?

I hope they're not waiting to see of Kerry gets elected! Because if they are, the corporate lobbies will fasttrack and have this done long before election day.

Just like they sat idly buy during the Eastern Ailines strike agains Lorenzo, we see history repeating itself with their inaction.

I just hope they are not waiting for a democratic administration since Kerry is married to a billionaire.

Maybe the AFL CIO should help UA employees because its the right thing to do, or maybe the AFL CIO should help UA employees because they are represented by IAM, or both.

Maybe, because unlike AA where less than half the workers are in an AFL-CIO union the vast majority of UALs workers are AFL-CIO.

Do you think those AFL-CIO workers will fare any better than the AMFA represented workers?

Would you rather see 50,000 AFL-CIO members suffer just to see 10,000 AMFA members suffer? You definately have a warped perspective. I'm sure the AFL-CIO members at UAL would really consider being affiliated with you to be an assett.

You need to be told again nw? OK. YOU claim that AMFA is bad for AMTs. I argue that it is industrial unions in the airlines that are bad for our profession. It IS "every other union's fault" because it is these very unions that allowed outsourcing to begin with, including your twu. AMFA has inherited poor contract language at every airline they have won an election at. Are simple facts like this that hard for your cowardly persona to grasp? You want me to take responsibility for AMFA's ineptness? That responsibility would rest on the shoulders of AMFA's ELECTED officials at all EIGHT airlines they represent. If there is indeed "AMFA ineptness" then ELECTED AMFA officials would be recalled or there would be iam, ibt, twu card drives at these EIGHT airlines. Wouldn't there?

As for being a coward, perhaps you would identify yourself.

Golly gee, a "token victory" turned into a "tiny token victory!!" I can't believe how the scAMFA ASSociation takes care of its members. Can anybody still believe there is anything to be gained by belonging to this bunch of B. S. slinging fools. They have no clout & can't even keep the number of recalls they told us they'd gotten 2 months ago. HOW WEAK AND SORRY THEY ARE!! Our guy Neil here in DTW told us last month he was glad he wasn't involved in trying to resolve who got their jobs back, he was afraid that they (scAMFA) might get sued for failure to represent. Nothing like looking out for your own ass and future. Looks like he might have been right - looks like 75 members lost out - thanks for the tough position scAMFA. Since NWA gets to say where these 73 go, I think they will just back fill on the line where people who have retired, died or got fired have NOT been replaced! Maybe scAMFA should try explaining this to the guys on the street, no way they do that, they won't even show up on the job here, I haven't seen a scAMFA rep. away from the meeting in months. Meanwhile NWA brings in Korean mechanics (who as near as we could tell used to be NWA employees but no longer are - spun off I guess) & tell us scAMFA approved them working with us for awhile to learn our jobs. Shop committee was called but never came by to explain. NO GUTS I GUESS. Nothing new there.

If he cant believe what he is seeing then he obviously was never "represented" by the TWU! If he was then he would be thankful to be an Amfa member now!

James, if you think your on to something by pasting these posts why dont you go and start a TWU drive over at AMFA represented airlines? Why not start a TWU drive at non-union airlines?
