Well at least express took over the PHX/TUS/PHX runs from the airbus.


Yeah, and guess what they replaced it with? A Dash 8. Are you Sh!ttin me!? How do you go from 124 pax down to 37? Don't they know Pima county has now surpassed over 1 million. Unbelievable.
 
I always wondered why BOS PHL isnt officially part of the US Airways Shuttle... its pretty much hourly and the same clientele. I guess because it justifies larger aircraft? Ive worked it recently on the 757 and also the 190, maybe they dont make it Shuttle because it couldnt be all Airbus? I remember they added IAD to BOS or LGA as part of the Shuttle at one point but then pulled it.

It's most likely because many of the flights on the BOS-PHL run are through flights to/from other cities throuhgout the system. As you now, the shuttle originally used a dedicated fleet, so this would not have worked on the BOS-PHL.

As for the short lived IAD shuttle, it was due to 9/11 and DCA's closure and trying to go up against UA who tried some quasi-shuttle like flying for a short period before ACA left UX.
 
I heard they would be doing one of the hourly PHL-BOS runs. CANT wait to see the west "product" presented to that crowd! Maybe it will give the west F/As an idea of what we deal with out in the business sector of the country as opposed to Vegas vacationers... maybe they can let Tempe know that 'business casual' has gone over like a lead balloon.

Reminds me... I seem to remember a mainline plane, I think it was a DC9 with US Airways Shuttle on it that went to IAD. It was still silver but had the new tail and US Airways Shuttle in black. I dont think Shuttle crews worked it though, maybe BOS crews did? Am I imagining things?

Nope, you're right on.

The whole IAD-LGA/BOS shuttle service was started in 1999 or 2000 when IAD was a major station for Metrojet. The DC9s ran the routes from IAD to LGA/BOS and they had 737s that flew the DCA-BOS leg when it became part of the Shuttle operation (same time frame) Once Metrojet was scaled backed/discontinued, most routes out of IAD were dropped, including the Shuttle ops.

WN has been dealing with these "neady" customers for years without any issues

And YES, they do that as well as the Shuttle flights. Just wait and see the reaction when you tell him you will hang his jacket behind row 3, where the seat will crash into it. :lol: :lol: :lol:

No, they haven't a clue. As every other airline flies to multiple hubs from TUS, we only fly to PHX. And before someone pipes up about flying to LAS, it's once a day and late at night on a Mesa 50-seater. Honestly, just like PHX to diss TUS.

Get over yourself, most airlines deal with the same type of person everyday. West has as well, get used to it.
 
to travelpro72.... btw the people they fly PHl-MHT and PHL-PVD are a totally different animal. the PHL-BOS and shuttle to BOS are a very NEEDY animal and they would never put up with a WN product.


I fly MHT_PHL weekly, and will not put up with WN. People in MHT are no different than BOS. MHT just gets the cheap Massholes to drive north and fly WN.

Don't put us in the same catagory as the cheap Massholes.
 
In one of my pairings 2 months ago we worked a PHL-BOS on A319 then to PHX. The PHL-BOS was full with buisness people. I had no problems with anyone, neither did the rest of my crew. It just reminded me of an SNA buisness flight but less hassle. We have our fair share of "needy" markets. I rather take a buisness flight over a vacation destination flights with the exception of Hawaii. Our east coast to LAS flights anytime there are events in LAS just drive me nuts period... it seems that everyone feels the need to get drunk the first 45min.

Its all the same crap, different day, different city pairs. Instead of focusing on who is doing what routes we should focus on overthrowing the catering and onboard products department people. They are the ones that make my life and co-workers lives a nightmare everyday! :angry:

p.s I won't stare at you if we don't have a lime for your G&T , I'll think of our imcompetent people of catering maureen and trisha, roll my eyes(for them) and give you the truth... and recommend you get something else. We don't even fly to ROC.

You know what I'm over? People like you who refuse to understand how much the customers that just so happen to live back east LOATH the new US Airways and the current management team that just so happen to be west.... Employees like you who take EVERYTHING personally instead of JUST MAYBE taking advice and getting it right the first time instead of having to change something THREE times!! (i.e...320 configurations)....employees who can't seem to understand that a HUGE chunk of revenue had to THREATEN or bolt to get changes.

And I will PROMISE you AA, UA, DAL, and CAL would not TAKE from the top flighers like LCC has!! Infact, are you aware of the airlines out there like United that court our customers because they know they are fed up. THE CUSTOMER, UW...NOT ME!! So when you tell me to get over MYSELF, look in the mirror at the self loathing..thats the way it is..get over it SELF and think about why this company is in trouble.

Oops, I forgot, its all those entitled EASTIES!!! :angry:
 
With the west planes flying traditional east flights is to make up for some of the east planes going back to the lease companyies.

But I also think is shows that the company knows where the money is to be made with this route structure, if not the planes would stay out west, and to bad the east lsot planes.

THANK YOU, Jack!! There seems to be the impression that we on the east hate anyone besides the people making the poor decisions. And by the way...I remember OC and yes they ARE a PITA!! I actually love doing some different flying but for corn sake, I'm not going to pretend like all is well when there have been so many screw ups from Doug and Scott. Aint gonna happen.

As I recall, it took about one hour to drive TUS-PHX, right? If you had only to go to PHX, why would you drive to the TUS airport up to two hours early to catch a 30 minute flight to PHX where you had to catch a cab/rent a car and repeat the process going home.

Would it not be more cost/time-effective to drive? I know many who would sooner drive LAX-LAS then fly it, the total time travelling is about equal, the convenience of having ones own auto can be priceless. Heck, I drive it even though I am not subject to security like an ordinary passenger.

Another thing. TUS has reached a critical size where it no longer must rely on PHX for connections. A passenger can hop TUS to LAX/SFO/SLC/DEN/DAL for much better service and connections than US aims to provide out of PHX.

PHX may be the origin of your universe, but, for the rest of the globe, it constitutes the rare fuel stop, a Timbuktu, if you will.
