I know the East has been doing some West Pairs for a while now, but noticed West taking over some East Pairs this Summer. While looking thru the July Schedule, I noticed that the 8:00am Departure out of EWR will now be done by a West A320. Flight 553 will operate EWR-CLT-PBI and 554 will operate PBI-CLT-EWR. I know the East is returning Aircraft, but does anyone know of other West flying or old East routes this Summer?

I heard they would be doing one of the hourly PHL-BOS runs. CANT wait to see the west "product" presented to that crowd! Maybe it will give the west F/As an idea of what we deal with out in the business sector of the country as opposed to Vegas vacationers... maybe they can let Tempe know that 'business casual' has gone over like a lead balloon.

Amen to that EMBFA ... Let me know if you are selling popcorn, Boston is a needy crowd.. It should be interesting to see how they deal.

I don't know for sure but that sounds like a violation of the Pilot's and Flight Attendant's Transition Agreements.

Anybody know for sure?

I know that West will also start one of the PHX-CLT runs starting this summer, as well as a PHL-SEA run.

Don't know if East will pick up anymore PHX flying early and late like MSP, DFW, LAX, ORD, SEA, etc., or any midday flying like PHX-SAN. Same goes for anymore LAS East flights like the recent PBI-LAS.

But I would really like to see some more connecting of the dots. Once the reservation migration was complete, I thought we would see some CLT-SAT, AUS, ELP(?), OKC, OMA, ABQ...etc. And I also thought there would be room for some PHL-SNA, SLC, AUS, SAT, SJC...etc.

The only things we have seen like this are PHL&CLT-PDX. Besides that, new flying like PBI-LAS utilizes 2 markets that were already served by East. No taking advantage of new city pairs that weren't availble pre-merger (without needing to open a new station) seems kind of ridiculous to me. There has got to be demand for some of those stations.

If that was the case then how did east fly PHX - DEN/SEA/SAN/DFW/AND OTHERS?

I would think it would not be a violation.

PBI: I've worked with them before. It is alot of old people that expect the world but pay for nothing  oh... and 100 wheelchairs and carts ;)

They have already made it very clear that there will be no growth, no new markets except the few extensively discussed international ones.

West can have ALL of the flights in and out of PBI, please!

WN has been dealing with these "neady" customers for years without any issues

Really? When did Southwest start Boston service??????

OMG everybody, Southwest flies to Boston!!!! And has for years without anyone noticing!?!

And since Philadelphia to Boston is one of US Airways strongest routes, has been for years and still is, obviously we have been 'dealing' with them too. Its our strong point, the market we are good at- frequent northeast business travelers. Its a bit tougher now without the basic amenities expected from an airline that serves these types of markets. I think it would be fabulous for the desert minded mgmt to take a ride on the more lucrative part of the airline and see what a mess its all become. Maybe having thier crews on them will filter the news of how out of touch they are back to the Sandcastle.

The shuttle crowd and the PHL-BOS crowd that US carries is in no way like the WN crowd that goes to PVD or BDL. The business men which make up MOST of those flights are different. Those flights are almost as tough as the PHL or LGA-PBI flights. I love our FF's but the BOS crowd is tough. I worked one not that long ago with about 80 seats open on a 757 and NO JOKE we had no bag space left. I actually HOPE for more east west trade offs. Let the west see just how different the northeast section of the country really is. I would like some different flying myself. As for the 757 on the east, are we EVER gonna use that airplane anywhere else? I mean really. The west can have all the PBI's we have. I don't like them one bit. I will have to say that since we don't have meals the flights seem to be a bit easier in that respect. No "special meals" anymore. Also no oxygen to deal with. Remember those nightmares? Yikes.

What's the deal with elderly and needy people?

You all will end up old, and so will I. Does that warrant me calling anyone rotten? NO!

in las big changes: the east will no longer have any morning flts until 1130am. PHl-ClT will be west. Also night flts going west will be PBI-MIA-FLL i believe. East gets the BOS. I believe this could lead to the company downsizing vegas to below minimum number of fls (69) for the east per week so they could be outsourced to the West. Theres been numerous problems with mgmt and FS fighting over who does what and when.
