I wouldn't read too much into this. In this day and age, companies routinely buy domain names that could be used to disparage them or report false information. I would venture a guess US owns many more domain names than just what is reported here.
And this one was already taken! http://www.duidoug.net/
The Omnipresent Cynic in me says they did it and publicized it to give the stock a short term bump so the Executives could get their quarterly Bonus. Only problem with that scenario is I don't think they got quarterly bonuses.
That said I think perhaps this is a defensive move in case something does transpire. Now does anyone think, know if the big boys at AA & US are talking formally or informally?
US Airways Cites Lessons of Bid for Delta as AMR Offer Weighed
By Mary Schlangenstein - Mar 13, 2012 12:56 PM ET
US Airways Group Inc. (LCC), now weighing a possible offer for American Airlines, learned from its failed 2006 bid for Delta Air Lines Inc. (DAL) that such attempts need to be friendly and have labor support, President Scott Kirby said.
Kirby discussed the lessons from the hostile approach to Delta, which was in bankruptcy at the time, at a New York transportation conference today while declining to comment on AMR Corp. (AMR)’s American or its Chapter 11 case.

“We can’t do it alone,” Kirby said. “It’s important, in an ideal world, to have the constituents of the bankruptcy, principally labor, on your side. An outright hostile transaction won’t work.”

...friendly? No one wants to even talk to the ugly girl at the dance.
...and have labor support? Which labor? I doubt there's a labor group (of any airline) in the country that would support a join up with LCC. And for the labor groups on this property, Kirby will get the same support he has shown them. ZERO...ZIP...NADA.
Labor support? That boat don't float, Scooter.
Lipstick can do wonders. and, fleecing the customers isn't as popular as it used to be.You will learn that in todays buisness world UsAirways is NOT the ugly girl anymore. Dont take my word for it...watch and learn over the next couple of years....

given what the press has been reporting, ain't no way, no how there will be support from the AA side. I can count on one hand the number of AA pilots that would support a deal. And they live in CLT!...friendly? No one wants to even talk to the ugly girl at the dance.

Labor support will be bought. What is your price?
Mine is a whole lot more than anything Tempe has laid on the table yet.
Cheers.
A buyout ...... so those over 55 with 30 plus years service can retire as planned, allowing those that stay to move up in seniority and room for some new blood at the bottom. A win, win for everybody, including the company.
