US to launch Express flights CLT-YOW

It would be wonderful if mainline flew there out of CLT. I miss going there. It was a great layover. And it is so beautiful in the summer.

Just about any "new" service that we read about, is Express. I would like to see this airline be daring enough to actually start up some new service with Mainline, but then again that would mean possible Mainline jobs etc...Seems the only Mainline additions we get to see are the Int'l ones, and that's only because Express doesn't have any A/C capable of that type of range. Nothing here to get real excited about.

My observation is that the M.O. is to start a new route with Express if within a capable range, and if demand warrents it, upgrade to mainline....I think that was SAT and possibly a few others.

Of course there have been new or re-started domestic services initiated with mainline.....Portland, Sacremento, Tuscon, Anchorage, Honolulu, but don't let facts get in the way of a good US bashing.

I think a lot of people who would take this flight if it were mainline would book away because it is Express, so will US really be getting accurate data?

Yep this how it’s done NOT Lack of knowledge and experience and laziness. With no long range plans

The "facts" speak for themselves at this airline. How much mainline flying has been handed over to Express in the last 10 years? You know as well as I do that they will run 5+ Express flights per day instead of an upgrade to mainline flying. Given that Express A/C now consist of up to 70 seats, the company can steer away from mainline to a great extent. They will do anything they can to avoid staffing a station with decent paying mainline jobs. Funny that SWA can start-up new service without the use of an Express operation. What was the last new domestic station that
US Airways opened with mainline flying and staffing? Many of those that you listed were once staffed with mainline people. I have seen MANY stations either close, or go Express over the years. Get rid of the employees, and come back with Express or contract vendors to do the work at a later date. I can bash what I please, since I have been a recipient of this companies chess game of how to screw their employees of of a job in favor of Express operations.

Express Aircraft have up to 86 Seats ........ the CRJ900

I wouldn't get too excited about this flight. It's priced at much more than double a one-connection flight. Also, it leaves CLT late at night and leaves YOW early in the morning. Most passengers will be Canadians connecting to points south in CLT. The flights that I checked had not sold any seats.

No announcement has been made about this flight here in Charlotte (at least none that I can find.) Not much of a marketing push.
