Is it true that Par Holdings dumped its 2,077,000 shares in America West (valued at $26,710,000) because they weren't too thrilled about the idea of HP having a merger of some sorts with US?

Par bought large blocks when the stock was in the low $5's I belive, not that hard to see why they chose to lock in a handsome ROI and get out.

That looks good if you hold the two route maps together, and the fleets match, but our costs would ruin anything good they've got going. I could be wrong though.

then i guess Usairways should get their costs down. Perhaps the U pilots will once again "save" the company. Last time i checked the jobmarket is REAL slim.

In reality the fleets don't match, AWA's airbii have differant engines.

Nice web page ITRADE, but you are in violation of copyright law buy using the US Airways banner and logo.

Dont let a certain Capt find out, lol.

If U were to merge with anyone? AWA (HP) would be my choice hands down.

HP's Fleet offers the least resistance in commonality of any carrier around.

HP's B737-300 Fleet mirrors that of our B737-300/400 Fleet

HP's B757-200 Fleet mirrors that of our B757-200 Fleet (many Ex-EAL sisterships)

HP's A319/320 Fleet differs only in engines and associated instrumentation regarding the power plant difference.

When viewing things in the broadest of spectrums , Minus HP not having access to the pacific rim at present , I see a U/HP merger offering the greatest growth potential Vs. duplication of efforts that would certainly lead to greater headcount losses if U were to attempt to merge with any other "legacy carrier" HP's lowered costs could also provide some benefits , if the details could be worked out?

I've wondered know for some time if the "multiple corporate transactions" might include Am West. Maybe for once we would be the aggressor towards LUV's territory. Isn't the Mesa connection there also?

At the moment I believe Mesa is America Wests only Express partner. Chautauqua went with the CMH hub. I do believe they codeshare with Big Sky Airlines, but its not an America West Express arrangement.
