Philadelphia's dominant airline said the ability to issue more shares will provide flexibility for acquisitions, increased capital, paying dividends in stock, and effecting stock splits, and other general corporate purposes. Chief executive officer Doug Parker told shareholders that the industry needs to further consolidate to thrive and return to profitability. He cited the recent merger of Delta and Northwest airlines, creating the world's biggest carrier, as a step in the right direction. "The industry continues to be far too fragmented," Parker said. "The result is far too many hubs across the nation and far too many seats competing for those same passengers."

At the rate LCC is burning thru cash, this further dillution of what will soon be a penny stock will simply hasten LCC's demise. Another $300-400 million for a carrier in such dire straits as LCC buys it precious little time.

USA320Pilot, i certainly don't think you're naive enough to think that LCC has the wherewithal to acquire UAL, do you? How might they fund such a transaction, considering they barely have enough cash-on-hand to sustain their day-to-day operations, and this issuance of new shares will do little to further that goal, much less acquire a much larger airline. :blink:

FWIW, LCC stock just took another 5% dive today.

Better hurry up and issue those 200 million shares before they're not worth the paper they're printed on.

now let us hope that parker has enough good sense to issue those shares ASAP .... (before the dead cat bounces finishes )


Act two will come further down the line , after we've run out of cash on hand and are close to breaching our loan covenants , the board will approach our creditors and ask them if they will take less ... which of course they will ... thus allowing us to stay in the game just a little bit longer ...
