US Airways on Facebook

There's a seemingly "official" facebook page for U.S Airways. Anybody know anything about who's responsible for it? It's embarrassing. Just yesterday, the status update made a joke out of the American Airlines crash at Kingston. Very unprofessional and completely inappropriate.

I really don't think Tempe is responsible for the content on the page, but feel like they should know about it. BTW, it's listed as U dot S Airways on facebook.

Just answered my own question. This is a comment to the latest status update: "Morgan Durrant Hi. I work for US Airways corporate communications. This is not an official US Airways Facebook account. US Airways has no presence on Facebook at this time, but we do on Twitter @USAirwaysNews. Thanks and Happy Holidays".

Whoever is responsible for the page, please do us all a favor and stop. Tempe already does enough of making us look bad, we don't need some wag on a home PC making it worse.

Morgan is a pretty knowledgeable guy, i think he is doing something compared to everyone doing nothing. I know him in a decent way, and i think its a cool thing he is doing. He could possibly relay that information too the execs from fb to see if it actually can change anything.

I would say that the company name is written as "U.S Airways" is an indication that it not an official. Then again, given the company's acumen on IT issues....

Maybe, however, there should be an official US page on one of the world's top websites?

CLTBWIDAYSYR, thanks for posting this and also my comment on the Facebook thread from earlier today. It's worth reiterating that this Facebook page is NOT an official US Airways page. It has long been dormant but in recent days it's been rather active.

We're working with Facebook to get it turned off until such time we want to venture onto Facebook officially.

FWIW, I've been banned from making any further comments on postings from that unofficial account, interestingly enough.

I have a sneaking suspicion as to who "owns" this page, but I'll leave it at that since I really don't/can't know for sure.

I don't think it would take more than a strongly, politely worded letter from USAirways legal council to FB to have it removed.

Kinda scary that anybody can just claim your company as their own on Facebook.
