Us Airways Mechanics Do Not Expect Giveback Deal

Count me in :angry: !!! Bronner can piss up a rope that Lakefield is holding 😉 !!!

Sorry, clicked on this thread thinking I cared but then saw FLIBOIS post and then realized that I couldnt be bothered with 5 pages of to and fro. So, if this has been covered already, I apologize....FLIBOI, there is a difference in the mechanics v. other unions on property (besides the pilots)...the are highly trained in fixing aircraft. The other unions on property are trying to protect wages/benefits for unskilled workers. The days of unions making unreasonable demands on financially disabled companies on the behalf of unskilled workers are numbered. True, there are mechanics out there willing to work for less than the U mechanics but U mechanics have a bit more bargaining power. eg. the unwillingness to capitulate. The unskilled work groups at U had no choice but to bend over to the demand. They really had no choice. You have had many choices fliboi since 9/11. The company has been more than fair in offering outs to those who wish to go elsewhere.

There's not any need to strike. Just following the book and moving a little slower,(it's cold out there) will grind everything to a halt. buh bye! :up:

That's not original. Some folks have been doing that for years. Play your cards right you can even force some unwarranted overtime!

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I never told everyone I was leaving.

Good luck folks!

I haven't seen any customer posts in this thread so I thought I would add one.

It sounds like you guys can't wait to kill this airline...perhaps a little revenge?

As a US Preferred flyer I am disheartened to see such vitriole here...I simply cannot understand, even with all the crap that has taken place in the past few years between you & management, why you would prefer no job to a job?

I have not always been happy with things my employer(s) have done, but I cared about my patients enough to get through & many times things actually improved for me. I don't know what will happen with U, but I would hate to think that it was killed off just for spite.

I have always been impressed with US's service, from the pilots to flight attendants, and the folks behind the scenes. Though I don't interact with baggage workers or mechanics, every time I land safely & retrieve a bag I think of both & thank both for jobs well done!!!

Keep up the good work & please work to find a solution to these problems. This is a very competitive industry & I believe that US can do well in the next few years if this latest transformation succeeds.

And those living through it are disheartened to live through the events leading to said vitriol. Sleeping through the movie, or hearing a quick two-line review may lead one to have a hazy view of the plot.

Because for more than half thoise involved, there is no job anyway. When your employer is hellbent on eliminating your job, it's hard to be magnamimous about the whole "rah rah for the company" thing.

I have not always been happy with things my employer(s) have done, but I cared about my patients enough to get through & many times things actually improved for me

Wait a miniute here; You're twisting this around. The company is not the "patient". As you say, you receive good service, but on the other hand you imply the same people are deliberately providing bad service out of spite.

I don't know what will happen with U, but I would hate to think that it was killed off just for spite

Somebody refusing to vote themselves out of a job is not spite...it's self preservation. If you'd like large blocs to simply identify themselves as korporate pawns, and magnanimously commit hari-kari for the korporate cretins self aggrandizement...just say so. All the flowery "For the good of the company" and somesuch rhetoric will be distilled down to the nitty-gritty anyway, given the tense situation here.
