What's really depressing is that US and HP combined had over 55,000 FTE employees in Sept 2001 vs under 33,000 in Sept 2007. The East/old US side went from 42.9K to 20.4K FTE employees during that period while the West/HP side is almost exactly the same (12.3K vs 12.4k).

Duh, it's down. The US/HP merger resulted in the canning of most of CCY and INT, in spite of Tempe's attempt to ballyhoo how many jobs it was adding after the merger. What they left out of that propaganda was the fact that they had just axed thousands.

Plus, there are those who wised up and got on the lifeboats before the Titanic went down.
