What's the distance from MBJ to DCA?ringmaruf said:They've also recently applied to amend their Jamaica authority to broad all points U.S.-Jamaica. I found it rather interesting, since they already hold certificate authority to serve MBJ/KIN from BWI/BOS/CLE/PHL/PIT and exemption authority for CLT-MBJ. I don't see KIN as being US's type of market, so I see this move as eventually leading to another gateway to MBJ. I would think that the most likely market would be IAD-MBJ, as there are no US carriers serving WAS-MBJ (Air Jamaica serves BWI-MBJ) and UA doesn't serve Jamaica at all. (They can't serve DCA/LGA-MBJ due to the perimeter rule and lack of adequate customs facilities.) Florida-MBJ is slightly more crowded, but certainly not out of the question either.
Great Circle Mapper says 1402 miles for MBJ-DCA.ITRADE said:What's the distance from MBJ to DCA?
As to KIN, that would only really be possible from MIA or JFK.
I don't think many folks want to be concerning themselves with PAP right about now - unless you've happen to have a tool that emits copper jacketed lead projectiles at a high rate of speed.ringmaruf said:Great Circle Mapper says 1402 miles for MBJ-DCA.ITRADE said:What's the distance from MBJ to DCA?

I totally agree about KIN, US doesn't want to get involved with AA at MIA or JFK, and they're concentrating on tourist destinations anyway, not places like KIN/PAP/PTP/BQN.
DCA-MBJ would not work even if the 1000 mile rule went away. DCA is not an international airport, and the only international flights that go there are from cities with pre-clearance by US Immigration and Customs.ITRADE said:What's the distance from MBJ to DCA?

As it stands now, the CUN service will be Saturday only - kinda like sticking your big toe in the water to test it out.ringmaruf said:Yesterday, the DOT approved US's request for broad all points U.S.-Jamaica authority.
In light of the application for FLL-CUN, I think that FLL-MBJ is the most likely route for this new authority.
