Update

The fact is the TWU is making a big deal out of this. Over the years there have been several incidences where current TWU officials have assaulted members or other officials in the TWU but they let it slide, they buried it, but now they are making a big deal over it.

No Bob Owens the IAM is the one who has brought this topic back to the forefront by suing the company. Haven't heard a peep from the TWU in the press lately about this incident have you?

What a crock of crap....

5 guys would start a fight against 22 guys that "were there to attend a union meeting". :censored:

"If I am in a bar fight, does US Airways have a right to discipline me?"

Um yeah....when the objective of the employees that "just happened to gather at the Marriott" were there to intimidate the opposing union. What? They felt the couldn't actually debate them with facts, so scare em out of town.

Pitiful.....what a disgrace.

It's almost ironic. The company has not been able to tell the non represented, accreded no doubt, employees, anything about all the union BS because they have to take a neutral position regarding it all. They can't been seen as trying to interfer with union activities. Understandably so. But now, the IAM has drug the whole ugly mess out into the public eye. And they claim that the company was trying to discredit them! I believe that the beginning of the discredit began in February. Now, there's a law suit filed for all the world to see. I can't even imagine just how ridiculous and ugly this is all going to get. While the IAM is attempting to save face, get fired employees reinstated, the rest of the employees, whether IAM or IBT or non union...........this harms every employee of US Airways because of the actions of a few individuals. Granted, the union is bound to represent them but to what degree?? A lawsuit filed in a court of law??

Will this lawsuit have any bearing on whether or not the NMB will hold an election?? Or is this going to drag it out for years and years??

What a fricked up way to start things off.

Follow the trail .........ask around

Some people use their fists to abuse others, while others use their Capitol to abuse others. Abuse of others is wrong. The blackeyes will heal quick enough, the harm that people like DP have done not only to the workers but the families of those workers will not go away anytime soon.
I agree.......abuse is wrong. DP did not make the rules that got these individuals fired. They may be written in the book that he signed his name to but those rules and codes of ethics go way back........way back to the way your parents raised you or didn't raise you......long before DP signed his name.

Those workers did this to themselves and it's sad that their families have to suffer. But the blame lies on the individuals. Unless they were only doing what they were told. And that opens a whole new discussion. Just like the enlisted military members being tried for the prison abuse.......they were only taking orders from their superiors but who is being charged, tried and imprisoned? Not the "superiors."

What about the "black eye" that has been put on the employees of US Airways because of this?? How soon will the employees heal??

Spare me the DP evil - union good rhetoric. BTW in the non union side of things there is significant precedent for firings for similar grounds.

Of course there is.........back to the basics of being ethical and having some morals.

I frankly think the real reason for the suit has little to do with getting jobs back. It has to do with making it appear that IAM is "Doing Something" for it's membership at a time when their continuance as bargaining agent for the ramp is in question.

I would think that the IAM's continuance as representatives for ALL workgroups at EVERY employer would be in question. I'll bet those employees that just decertified the IAM are breathing a sigh of relief and knowing FOR SURE that they made the right choice.

The 22 that were fired deserve to be fired period!! They went there to start trouble and everybody knows it!! To defend them is one thing but to file a law suit against the company is laughable how many people have been fired for lessor offenses and never got their job back and a lawsuit was never filed and we can list lots of examples. Are dues monies being used to file this lawsuit you bet they are!! The IAM stoops lower and lower everyday!!

Maybe the IAM members can sue the IAM for wasting their dues money???

Really makes you wonder how much brain power the IAM leadership has. No wonder they got pistol whipped in BK2. More reason not to vote for the IAM if there is a vote. We need leadership with more brains than brawn! Who in their right mind decided it was a good move to do more than merely defend these individuals. "No...we can't just defend them...we need to stir the pot and make it look like the company had a hidden agenda and wanted our lynch mob to take matters in their own hands so as to lose an election if there is one". As Napoleon Dynamite would say "Gosh" "Such a freggin Idiot"! Unbelievable!  :angry2:

If the company is preventing the investigation the IAM or any union has to file suit to resolve it.

What if it was you who were on the outside looking in and the company refused to the the union investigate why you were fired?

No wonder why you have no idea of what happened and what is going on.

The courts will sort it out. They are accustomed to one-sided rhetoric.

The IAM has chosen to force this to the light of day. As far as I know they are the first to do so. Whatever their version of events is, it isn't worth anything until some one testifies under oath.

Please show me the proof of this.

The company is obstructing an investigation, which by law they cannot due.

Plain and simple.
I think it is certain that 700 along with dell...whatever re pawns of the IAM. I have been watching the posts (when I can) checking about three times a day. These guys are posing nonstop from 4:30 in the morning to sometimes 10:00 at night!!!! I beg you guys do something with yourself!!! I know the IAM payroll is hard to give up.

Sorry I am not posting from 4:30 am till 10 at night, and I am not on the IAM payroll.

Don't let the facts get in your way.
