Union Meeting On Memorial Day?

I would like to know why? The membership let the twu know that they did not want to have a meeting on Memorial Day and the e-board members decided that they would have one anyways.

It was brought to John McDonalds attention just because the company no longer considers it a holiday that we the membeship do. John ask for a show of hands and by unanimous vote the membership decided to change the meeting. But then the e-board decided (against it's memberships request) to hold the meeting on Memorial Day anyways further taking time away from our families on a holiday.

This is an important meeting with the elections coming up and a classic example of the twu ignoring the memberships wishes.

Thrustful jet, as you know this is the way it has always been. We voted down building a new union hall, FOUR times, the e-board decided to build it anyway. What was the reasoning? It was because we need and want it. Then AMFA hit oooops, maybe we should rethink building. LMAO Anyway they can do what ever they want when we are gone if the international doesn't swoop down and take it all decertifying the local. This mentality started about the time they removed the ability to recall local officers!!!

Did you have a vote at all the meetings? Or just the one you attended? I know at the meeting I attended this issue was never discussed! If you wanted it changed, than why did you not plan ahead and have a motion made at last month's first meeting or at the executive board!

The election committee guidelines were distributed with the nominations of officers for the May meeting on the 31st! I suspect if this was changed than someone else would be complaining!

You know on one hand you want to have the members make the decissions and than on the other hand you want the executive board to dictate to you! What is it? I believe if it was a great concern you would have made prior arrangements. I just think you are looking for an excuse to complain!!!!!!!!

Just for your information, it did not matter to me! My plans were already done long ago!!!!

Please explain.

Where do you get the "other hand" that says anyone wants to be dictated to by the Executive Board? You are dreaming up crap again CIO.

Alas,

The last of you post makes it clear that you surely are TWU. "it did not matter to me". It's all about "ME" within the TWU isn't it CIO?

Point is this never should have become an issue for crying out loud. What kind of union trys to have a membership meeting on a holiday? This was never the practice in the past and was only brought to our attention at the 3:45 meeting. I should not have to plan to remove a meeting from a Holiday!!!

I swear you people can be idiot's down there at the union hall, I can see why your having so much problem getting your membership to stand behind you with these kind of stunts.

I HEAR THERE IS A NEW GUY RUNNING FOR TWU LOCAL 514 PRESIDENT.

His name?

Nomar Holiday

A.K.A. "No More Holiday"

I doubt he will get the votes to win, but Jim Little will appoint him without further balloting.

B) The regular monthly membership meeting shall be held on the last Monday of each month, however, in the event the last Monday of the month falls on a legal holiday, or a holiday weekend, the President shall (subject to the approval of the Executive Board) set another date for the regular membership meeting.

It says "in the event the last Monday of the month falls on a legal holiday" and as far as I know it is still a legal holiday.

Ok,

What happened?
Sorry Decision, wasn't there.....doctor's appoinment for a bum leg!

Look, I'm not real big on some of the eboard officers (thank goodness elections are coming up!) that we have but if you want things to happen you have to get "involved" (take that as you may). That's just common sense. If the issue was not brought up at all the meetings then it's a mute point is it not?

Thrustful, have you approached anyone on the eboard personally, anyone at the union hall? There are plenty of "good" folks to help. Don't be so judgemental!!! ;)

Well OK,

Sorry to hear about your leg. I hope you get better.

But, the By-Laws do not say anything about a membership meeting.

The By-Laws say the President Shall (subject to the approval of the Executive Board) reschedule the meeting.

Does this mean the E-board refused to move the meeting?
Or did Randy fail to even try?
Or did the membership try to over-ride the E-board?

I find it most interesting the meeting to have nominations of officers will happen on Memorial Day Holiday.

What has the TWU become?

What is going to be real exciting, is having TWU Local Officers and the NMB AMFA vs. TWU Election all at the same time.

Can I go campaign for AMFA while you go campaign for office? The rats will be having a great time and HR will be overworked.

I can't wait.

Care to publicly state your opinion about local e-board officers?

They have been approched and the decision has been made. Guess I will have to take the kids to visit their mothers grave sight another time since the twu see's fit that Memorial day is not an important holiday.

Are you one of these who look for an excuse? If what you are saying is the truth than it was your fault not to be prepared! The contract was done over a year ago!

NMB will rule, their is insufficient interest to have an election! So decision it's a mute point! One election at the local will take place. Unless you count the election committee vote.
