Do you think the twu would have been able to fight off NWAs Force Majuer (sp??)?? They couldn't have done anything different. In fact it's questionable whether or not they would have spent the money to take it to arbitration on the 3 different occasions. When NWAs' mechs got their industry changing/leading contract, it left the twu scrambling to try and get close on our contract. Every airline has a different situation so the AMFA and the contracts will be different among the other airlines. What's important is that the membership will have control over their fate, not some atd puppet master making all the calls.
Lay-offs are nothing new to the airline industry. What is new is that the twu gave the company the right to labor loan whoever, whenever and to wherever they want. If they need someone the company will just borrow them instead of recalling. Why do you think the AA flight attendants got rid of the twu?? Superior negotiating skills???????? I don't think so!!!!!!!!!
If you think you are unhappy now, you could have worked for Zebco and suffered 100% twu farmout overseas and no chance of ever seeing your job again!!
The AMFA is our only alternative to the twu.........It may be our only hope period!!!

Keep the Faith........VOTE AMFA!!!!!!!!
The TWU would have NEVER been conned into signing that worthless loophole riddled contract in the first place. Everyone who saw that WORTHLESS scope clause was screaming at Amfa not to take the cheese but they did anyway and now the WORKERS are paying for it. The TWU got a bigger raise, better retirement, all WITHOUT any concessions!!

You must be a fool! We do have the same clause in our contract, it is called FORCE MAJUER. AA could have claimed the same thing and the twu would have to fight it through the courts the same way AMFA is now.

Show us where our iron clad SCOPE language is. Why do we have part time language written into our contract? Show us where the twu got us a bigger raise and retirement. Your posts show how inept the twu is. They also show how you fear stating your name when you post lies.

THE twu SMELLS FEAR... AND IT IS THEIR OWN!

Ken, you mean as in 38% outsourcing, pay a penalty for the ballance to the National Union?

j7915, come on answer the question if you can. Money paid to the National will be spent on promoting and protecting AMFA members. Unlike the twu who will spend their money on issues that do not affect our profession.

As for 38% that is better than the 100% the iam allowed.

Why do we still have part time language for AMTs in our contract? With the amount of take aways that little gave to AA one would have thought that the twu could have fought to have this particular language removed.

Wrong again. Even if you had said "without any MORE concessions" you would have been wrong. There were concessions put in place concerning the 10 hour day and holiday work in the 2001 contract, you know, the one that the TWU could only keep in place for a year before they gave the most concessionary contract ever!

The fact is the 2001 contract left most of the previous concessions from the last twenty years intact.

Tell us how worthwile our scope clause is when the TWU cant even enforce it, such as Charlotte staffing, the layoff of "P" workers and the roll back of system protection.
