This is yet another posting of false information by Busdrvr. The researchers have retraced the disease and have determined that it was an Air Canada flight attendant that brought the disease to North America.

Busdriver clearly has an ax to grind with AA. You need not expend your energy having to justify AA's fine safety record, nor the quality airmen that work for AA. Busdriver evidently has little more to do with his spare time than sit at his computer and hurl insults at, as Sastal so eloquently stated, the aviation professionals who go about their profession with pride and dignity.

The role of international travel in the spread of HIV was highlighted by the case of 'Patient Zero'. Patient Zero was a Canadian flight attendant from American Airlinescalled Gaetan Dugas who traveled extensively worldwide. Analysis of several of the early cases of AIDS showed that the infected individuals were either direct or indirect sexual contacts of the flight attendant. These cases could be traced to several different American cities demonstrating the role of international travel in spreading the virus. It also suggested that the disease was probably the consequence of a single transmissible agent.

Despite all the tough talking rhetoric by AFA leadership, I honestly don't think they have the b-lls to follow through with their CHAOS threats. They have a history of talking tough and then folding like a $2 lawn chair. I don't think this time will be any different.

The group I worry about is AMFA. I honestly believe they will walk if their contract is abrogated. By and large, they are the one labor group that stands the best chance of marketable employment opportunities for their members outside of this industry. Most other work groups cannot make that claim. Therefore, one could argue, they have the least to lose and most to gain by drawing their line in the sand.

Then again, given the state of oil and the fact that prices are only going to keep going up as time goes by, this industry is doomed anyhow.

I'm curious -- if the employees strike, would United be able to hire replacements? I apologize if this is a pedestrian question, as I am not familiar with labor agreements. I am just following the logic that if the labor groups strike because their contracts are voided/changed/whatever, wouldn't this open the door for United to get rid of Unions altogether by hiring non-union replacements?

To all of you other airline types, especially NH/BB's (and all of his decorative punctuation) who are bravely urging UAL employees to take down the airline and do your fighting for you, will you please shut up. Worry about your own jobs. We don't need outside lobbying from those who would benefit most from our demise.

I say take it in the shorts now, and get it back later, if we ever make a profit again.

I liken AFA's reactions to a wife in a bitter divorce with a cheating husband. They are reacting emotionally because they have been betrayed (as we all have) and I can't fault them for being angry (because I sure am). However, getting up and killing the husband in the courtroom solves nothing except getting you put in jail and ending any chance you have for alimony.
