It makes me sick how the company thinks they care so much about us by giving me a stupid turkey dinner once a year. As I sit here in my crash pad not working away from my family on a holiday because the idiots in Tempe can't staff the place correctly. You want to show me you care, get us a merged contract, clean the planes, get us the proper tools on the aircraft, cater the aircraft properly, do something about this reserve system. Do things that matter to show us you "care" about us. It takes a hell of a lot more than a stupid turkey dinner to care about your employees.

I agree with all you said, however it is better than not giving a turkey dinner.

IMO, for today I just say thanks for the dinner, that was thoughtful. That is exactly what a decent company does on a holiday for employees forced to work.

Tomorrow, is a different story.

Embrace your bitterness , allow it to wash over you , let it make you stronger in your resolve to get things done …. Come to the dark side

People,
iwantout is only stating his opinion, why is it the first retort is always,
''if you don't like it quit''. How about try and fix it. There's alot of things I'm
thankfull for this Thanksgiving but none are job related. I agree that the company
didn't have to give away dinners, but how much was spent on them ? I'd rather have
the financial equivilant to the meal. It's obvious there are company supporters' in the
sense, that they love the company and are happy with anything they recieve. Me, I'd
rathrer earn what I recieve and get what I deserve. The meal may have only costs'
$5.00 per person, well give me the five bucks. I can get my own meal. There were people
today in Phl who came in with thier children on thier day off to take advantage of the free
meal. That's sad, are we making so little that we can't afford to enjoy Thanksgiving off and
eat a home cooked meal.

So yes I'm thankfull for alot this year, none of them company related.
Oh, and I'm not going to quit. I'm gonna try to fix my situation. Quitting is not an
option. Leaving for a better job, yes...not quitting. Who would that hurt besides me.

I know how you feel iwantout, and if you have a family and friends be Thankfull.

Thanks

If the turkey dinner was not provided then you would complain about that. When someone gives you something all you have to do is say 'thank you' and nothing else. Be appreciative that people cared enough to think of the folks working today and remember there will be millions of people not eating at all today.

I love how everyone says I should just quit for stating my opinions. Well guess What? I dont want to quit. I love my job and have given up a lot just to stay here. Is it too much to ask for my employer to care about their employees, provide me with the tools to do my job and act responsible. I dont think so. Providing me with a lousy meal on Thanksgiving is not showing me you care. Doing so the other 364 days shows that you care.

I am sure you washed your turkey down with kool aide while you sucked up to managment.

If I were in management, and I read the bitterness displayed here every day, I would rethink even giving you all turkey.

If you are going to be so pissed off and bitter about a free dinner, then don't eat it, it would probably leave a bad taste in your mouth.

Have we reached a point, where the company can't even give a free turkey dinner without all the whining?

Quit, find a new career, you will be happy and live longer.

Just love how it's assumed that just because someone isn't unhappy and bitter that, then they are automatically called kool-aid drinkers. .amazing. These crappy attitudes are a big reason I'm glad I'm out of this company. Has the management done a lot to screw up the company? Absolutely. But those that constantly complain would likely be unhappy anywhere they go.

I agree.

I didn't eat the dinner provided, although I appreciate the gesture, but I would much rather get the respect I deserve than a free meal.

And I would add that local management were the ones responsible for arranging the meal and getting the serving trays set up for the employees. All that Tempe provides is the rubber stamp to spend money for the food.

I'm sure you and I are not the only ones who think this way.
