Topic: American''s Unfair Treatment of TWA Family

Over a week ago APFA was on the ball, trying to do everything possible to safe jobs. From both sides of the airline. Every flight attendant is a member, and will be protected by this union. We will continue to do everything possible to protect the jobs of every AA flight attendant. Here is an example of a union concerned in action.

SENT VIA FACSIMILE August 30, 2002

August 30, 2002

Ms. Lorraine Mase-Hecker, Director
Employee Policy and Relations
American Airlines
P.O. Box 619616, MD 5235
Dallas/Fort Worth Airport, Texas 75261-9616

Dear Lorraine:

I am writing to once again urge the Company to proffer AA training to as many ISL flight attendants as possible. This is especially important at this time in light of the Company’s announced intention to reduce TWA-LLC flying.

It has been brought to my attention that certain Company managerial representatives have suggested (although not to me) that training on AA equipment of TWA-LLC flight attendants will “save jobs.” While it is far from clear that such training will “save jobs,” the Company’s suggestion of such a consequence provides further reason to support my outstanding request that the Company proffer AA training to ISL flight attendants as promptly as possible.

I am available to meet with you next week to further pursue this request and to continue APFA’s efforts to reduce to the maximum extent possible, and ideally to eliminate entirely, the furlough of American and TWA-LLC flight attendants. Please contact me so that we can arrange a mutually convenient time to meet.

Sincerely,

John Ward

It's time to put the integration issue to bed because it's over and done with and nothing is going to change it. But now, you are all AA APFA members and it would be a really positive and healing gesture to show some solidarity with your newer, fellow employees. I know this isn't your personal responsibility, but it is your collective responsibility and now that the chips are down, it would not only be the morally correct thing to do, but strategically it will pay off in droves for you guys down the road.

Just my thoughts. Sorry for butting in.

Take care,

mAArky

Yes we are going to bat for all the members of the APFA. APFA only reps AA Flight Attendants. I find it funny that a miniority (LLC'ers) find it necessary to sue us. Yes it should be over. But how can it when you seperate yourself from your union by suing them?

If we are one company and one union, then there are no diproportionate numbers. The most junior f/a's unfortunatly get the furlough. Right now the 160 f/a's hired after 4/10/01 on the AA side have been sent their letters.

How many would be on the streets right now had Carty not been in a race to be the "world's largest airline?" Answer: All of them. So you won't get any sympathy from me over the 213. How many of you went on the seniority list above my TWU brother's? Answer: A majority of you. What happened is the weak TWU was unable to protect it's member's. It's a shame because now I'm a disgruntled employee who hates his union, and doesn't care if we go down the tubes just like TWA.

Oh, really? Then why is all the 737 overhaul work being sent to MCIE?

I can't help but notice this Ward letter came days after the meeting in DFW where I have it from good sources that he DID refuse to consider a side letter to save our jobs. Regardless of when, I hope something comes of this.

I would beg to differ that the integration issue is over and done with. Not by a long shot.

At this point both sides look like a couple of grimy inner city crack whores knocking each others few remaining teeth out in a pitched ownership battle over a discarded SubZero refrigerator box.
