Time to decertify ALPA?

Who told you Mrs Cleo?

There is no gaurantee you will certify another union.

No union = no Contract.

I'm in that group, but I am still incensed by Nicolau's total disregard for ALPA Merger Policy (and, yes, I am well aware that the policy does not include DOH.) If you read the current policy, Nicolau fell far short in at least two of the criteria.

Send me my decertification ballot. I will happily sign to decertify ALPA. They haven't been effective or relevant since the Airline Deregulation Act of 1978.

Thank you for your leadership.

There's no guarantee that you will get a life even after I tell you to, either. By try it.

The USairways pilots are knowledgeable enough to have another union in place to keep the contract alive before a decertification vote takes place. If a threshold level (I forget the percentage) of pilots send ballots proffered by a competing union, then a certification ballot will be taken. This ballot would at once certify the new union while decertifying ALPA. It could be an in-house union, or another established union.

This has been attempted at USAir about 10-15 years ago with insufficient support. The organization was an in-house effort called the USAir Pilots Association (USAPA.) They tried for about a year, then gave up.

ALPA has done tremendous disservices since that time over a decade ago. Needless to say, the attitude of the membership is not quite as enchanted with ALPA now as it was then.

But if the intergration went DOH I'm sure you and all the rest of your pilots would be singing ALPA's praises.Right??
Or would you still be interested in decertification. Be honest now. The one and only reason you talk like this is because of the ARBITRATOR's ruling. Right?

Your point?????

Amazing. The first officer on my trip has a hire date of 1982, but he is now below an HP pilot with a hire date of 2000. I understand that ALPA agreed to arbitration, but I can't believe that the arbitrator would have thought that a span of 18 years to be equal is ludicrous.

It is the merger policy that created this travesty...

Yep. The 1991 change (thanks to UAL pilots) did away with time on the property as one of the criteria for a merger seniority calculation.

Forward thinking ALPA.

You just ruined years of hard work for thousands.

I can't believe he is in any mental condition to fly today. Shock makes pepole less self-aware.

But I assume you think it's ok to put fo's and furloughes who knew D@MN WELL they were not going to upgrade or were ever going to be recalled back to mainline ahead of active capts. huh?

Monkey,

Never heard anyone say this. I believe the East also had a no bump policy in proposal for West. You know D@MN WELL that attrition alone had most upgrading including the furloughed! Don't let the Facts get in your way.

Guys, getting out of ALPO is easier said then done. We tried in the 80's with no luck. We had over 1500 signatures of pilots who "said" they would sign a ballot to vote to decertify ALPO. Basically, a vote for a vote. When push came to shove, very few actually had the b@lls to actually do it.
ALPO has amazing power. You'll soon find out. Best of luck guys!!!

Hey bud,

We never had a situation like this facing us back then. This has been building for years and this intergration is the end.

I predict ALPA is gone. The only thing that will save it is if Prater throws out the arbitrators award.

Anything less than that and some other union will be representing the USAirways pilots in a few short months.

And for the record my seniority number is north of 100. And I will be first in line to vote to decertify.

From all I've read (binding) ...how is it possible that Alpa (Prater) has any ability to throw this any where saving the East pilots. Is this fact or wishful thinking?
Also, as an F/A what can we do to support all our groups?

Way to Go! Spread that morality to the other senior folk.
