they had an emb 170 do some not much touch and goes last week at my station i however missed it as i was very ill with a lung infection and was out for 4 days

Just a thought, but I didn't think you paid for touch-n-go's. Although each airport is different with landing fees could it be the company actually thought about something before doing it. What the hell am I talking about that couldn't be.

TYS has a history of hosting training flights. DL at one time used TYS for training (late 80's thru mid 90's) Often the pattern would have a DL DC-8 and L1011 doing ILS's and stop for gas and go at the same time. I have seen the MIL C17, B707, C141 doing approaches in TYS over the years.

I think the light commerical traffic at TYS is probably why it gets this type of flying.
Beautiful city and not a bad place to break down.
