Jim, you will get tons of Doug supporters here that will put every type of spin imaginable about why other carriers can make $ in PIT and US cannot....I've come to realize that nothing anyone can say or do will ever change the way these folks feel...not unless Doug came out with a different stance and maybe the truth, but we all know that's not going to happen.....

Someone tell these carriers to stop while they are ahead. There are no people in Pittsburgh. They will never make money. Ok so this is only a few flights from Airtran but it's definitely a step in the right direction. Didn't I hear somewhere that Delta was thinking of REentering the PIT-YYZ market? That was some time ago but I think I heard that somewhere. Oh well other airlines are adding service to the lil' rusty town of Pittsburgh. True it won't be a hub for another carrier but over time will have a great assortment of airlines to take the flying public to any destination they need to go. Connections to int'l a must won't dictate that they fly through PHL either. Not that bad for Western Pennsylvania actually. US who?

Yeah and US in the middle saying, "What do we do? What do we do"? There is no money to be made, we're struggling, we can't fill planes profitably..we can't rape the customer anymore aaaaaahhhhhhhhh". PULL OUT ALTOGETHER and GO. The company is no longer viable nor reliable or competitive. Basically US has NO GAME.

If anyone thinks for a red hot second that Usairways will add service to accommodate commuters your sadly mistaken. If anything look for Usairways to cut a flight or two with less flying out of PIT. It just won't be cost effective for them since Southwest competes on that route ferociously anyway. I mean really, thats Usairways excuse on other routes right? I use the word ferocious since PHL is our stronghold and Southwest has quite a few flights a day. True some not full but we have a flight or two a day be it early morning or late afternoon that are not full at times either. As for the vacation thing. I have heard about the possibility of the union wanting to change the vacation matrix. HELL NO. You bid your vacation and THEN take it with you. As disheartening as the closing of PIT is being a PIT native myself no other base closing was awarded the ability to do that and no exception should be made now. That isn't fair.

maybe the PVD-PIT direct service on WN didn't do that well since US had NONSTOP service with mathed WN fares, and, oh yea, NO STOP IN PHL (of all places to avoid...).

PVD-PIT is a perfect 2X WN market IMHO. Don't forget that PVD-PIT doesn't have to be all local traffic too.

LOL........Yeah we were all so upset with the Scareways announcement last week that we all are picking up and moving to follow them. Wait, someone should keep flights running for a while so we all have a way out!! :D

LOL.. come on Scareways.. oh let me guess ... Agony arilines, Useless air.. etc etc... plz stop the employees of US have heard it all. you need to get your head out of your arse and deal with it. ive said it before its America we all choices and believe me it does not take anyone with half a brain to see if Wn F9 FL B6 saw a BIG opportunity in PIT they would already have thrown in MANY flights. Personally ive been doing the airline thing for 31 years and very happy you dont fly US.. for everyone of you we get 2.. for everyone of you I get great frequent flyers who stick with us. I did not write the article in the WSJ that stated that US has the greatest profit margin last quarter than everyone else including WN and that WN is on stock watch and only trading at 17, but lets leave that for the pros in NYC. plz you and all the likes of you please stay away from Scarewways... we dont want you just like when Herb at WN says when it comes to doing business... its the Employees.... the Customers then the Stockholders... YOU are even second fiddle to them...Plz go away

I have no idea why WN would be on stock watch; however, the reason WN trades at $17 is because that's the way WN wants it. Whenever the stock gets above $20, they split it to bring it back down. I have a friend who retired at 50 because she bought WN early and held it. It kept splitting and she ended up a rather well-to-do retiree. I keep trying to remind her that I always loved her best.

Well as painful as it was, I finished reading through your post, and I think I understood about 10% of the jibberish you typed. And talking about heads in arses, yours is so far up there you may run into dougie. I'd love to see your statistics too that prove for every one of 'me' you get 2 great FF's.

As far as sticking with US, I have been flying them since my first flight in 1970, started at a greater volume with more pleasure and occasional work travel in 1985, and since 1993 regularly with all business travel. I've accumulated around 2 million miles over the years, so don't say I haven't stuck by them. I know US to be an awesome airline with the best employees imaginable, and have been proud to call them my airline as well as my hometown airline for many many years. That is, the USAirways BEFORE America West. This is not USAirways in any way, shape or form, just in name only.

I still have hope that someone will come in that knows how and actually WANTS to run an airline, and can turn this goat rodeo around, and make this airline what it was and we all know it could be. In the meantime, they are losing all of their frequent customers and down the road, that will finally appear on their excel spreadsheets.

The trick then will be, will they be able to bring them back. Who knows what will happen. In the meantime, it is attitudes like yours that spew out of Tempe that reinforce why the frequent flyers are burning rubber to DL, CO, UA, AA, NW, WN and the rest. So while you keep your head up your arse, if you do run into dougie up there, have a beer with him and figure out both of your exit strategies. We'll all be better for it!!
