ORLANDO, Fla., Oct. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AirTran Airways, a subsidiary of AirTran Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: AAI), today announced that it will be adding new flight service, beginning Feb. 14, 2008, between Pittsburgh International Airport and Southwest Florida International Airport in Ft. Myers. Also beginning the same day, the low-fare carrier will increase its service between Pittsburgh and Tampa to daily flights from Saturday-only and introduce daily flights between Pittsburgh and Ft. Lauderdale.

Ok so this is only a few flights from Airtran but it's definitely a step in the right direction. Didn't I hear somewhere that Delta was thinking of REentering the PIT-YYZ market? That was some time ago but I think I heard that somewhere. Oh well other airlines are adding service to the lil' rusty town of Pittsburgh. True it won't be a hub for another carrier but over time will have a great assortment of airlines to take the flying public to any destination they need to go. Connections to int'l a must won't dictate that they fly through PHL either. Not that bad for Western Pennsylvania actually. US who?
