South West wants D.C. slots!

you bet they do... this is likely the last majority opportunity to gain access to the top business markets in the US.

I would not be surprised if b6 n wn help us/aa w the doj in order to allow merger n the 2 lccs get more slots at dca n ny

I just hope WN is really ready to pounce as they say they are. Last time B6 outbid SWA. Like WT said, this may very well be the last chance, SWA better pounce and outbid all if they really want them (slots).

Does that mean that you think that AA/US won't have to give up any slots?  Or, does it mean that you don't think WN has enough money to outbid almost anyone for just about anything they might want?  Either way, I find that level of naivete refreshing in someone your age.

However SWA has a cap on what they will spend. The last time SWA was out bid they were over the top out bid. Some are saying this is effecting their bottom line as they paid way too much. Let's not forget B6 wants more slots as well. I'm sure Virgin will get in the bidding too. SWA will participate in the bidding, but will not over pay for them. What those numbers are? I have no freakin idea. But apparently, they over paid in the last bidding war for slots. This will get interesting as we move closer to the end of Nov. and beyond...

I posted before that B6 is spending $3 per seat on BOS-DCA if the slots are amortized over 30 years. that is alot of money to spend to break into the market.
WN won't overspend but this might be the last big break to grow at LGA and DCA. I think they will get some slots...enough for DAL anyway.

Did not USAir swap out LGA slots with Delta and in return got DCA slots?
I doubt AA/US LGA numbers come close to those of DCA.

Interesting, the polititions are only interested in slots in their own back yard! ------- Imm, a little self serviring, no ?

more likely, the TX AG dropped the suit when WN told him TX would be better off by picking up slots from AA/US which WN can use to expand its DAL operations.

What is the definition of "serious" discussions that WN said it hasn't had w/ anyone? I suspect they've had more than enough casual conversations to make it clear that they want and will likely get some slots which will be used exactly to some of the states that are blocking the merger. Isn't BNA-DCA also a market where AA/US have a monopoly and yet WN has large operations? Same thing for Florida....
