Solving the Line vs: Overhaul Issue

This age-old fight is getting rather old and solving nothing for anyone, that is, excepting the company and twu international.

Granted, I'm not well versed on union matters, but - as long as overhaul exists, the line will be overridden by O/H's superior numbers. Why can't the line boys and girls organize themselves ONLY in a union/organization/association (etcetera & et alia) leaving the O/H organization to sink or swim on its own with the twu or something else of its choosing?

I've always been curious if this could be done - if so, why hasn't it happened? Becoming free of those who believe nobody should receive GEO pay shouldn't be an issue anymore, that is, if there's a way to separate the line from O/H.

As a Tool & Diemaker, this isn't an issue to me - even though I was an ADJ while in the Navy, that's not my job now - no desire to work line at my age, even if I was qualified.

So, WTF? Why can't this happen?

Your question is a Good one, Why don't you ask you Local leadership there and see what his answer is? Its all about the $$$ (dues) TWU would not let it happen. The Airline are doing away with the O/H facilities. So if AA does away with Tusla/AFW and lets the line guys go to AMFA. NO MORE DUES..That is why

I understand the "dues" part - I understand full well the needs of the social club.

Just can't figure why "line only" needs any OK from anyone to govern themselves. It's doubtful the twu OK'd the passing out of AMFA cards recently in TULE so I was wondering why a drive with a "line only" specification couldn't be done as well withoutn the blessing of little jimmy. Is there something in the "craft and class" definition that prevents this?

I really don't need to be told to ask my "representation" - I just asked a question re: what prevented this from happening so far.

Neither AA or TWU are interested in solving this issue, they both use it to their advantage. They enjoy to screw the line. Before I thought may be there was a way to solve this but reality is that OH majority is in another world. Thats leave no choice that separete contracts and may be even separate unions. This fact is something that does not make me happy, but sadly that is the way it is.

Sounds good, but how do you go about doing that? How do you seperate one work group from another without both consenting to it? -------And I don't see that happening!

Get rid of the TWU and we will work this out once it is no longer the wedge used for control and existence.

NMB will not allow serperate unions.

Get AMFA on the proerty and this wil get resolved quickly.

The Line versus Overhaul is a TWU created issue. A Local 514 leadership continued issue.
Not Tulsa, the Local Ledership.

Like the idea Informer but what need to be done for TULE to buy on this? How we can get them to sign cards?

Tulsa will get this station's required amount to file.

It would be helpful if the Line Local Presidents would take a stand against the TWU instead of publishing letters about change from within that spool up the supporters and organizers here though.

Once hangar 1-2 become one shop under the new contract, those in these hangars that have yet to sign a representational election authorization card will do so.

A few of the new work rules are leaking out. 90 no C/S shift rotations mandatory.

A centralized maintenance scheduler, who will assign the aircraft work, so the mechanics can then report to the crew chief's of the various docks.

And of course 7 day coverage for hangars 1-2.

Isn't the concept of one shop so there is no one sitting on their ass.
It sounds more productive.

With the same number of mechanics as before, who is going to make those that don't work now work?

Before you their crew chief, it us only a $14.00 a day job over I suspect yours.
