Slot Swap

Close enough that I'll accept that paraphrasing. "Money-losing" is a term relating to PROFIT or lack thereof, not revenue. If you'd pay attention rather than making stuff up you might learn something.

Now, what about that REVENUE breakdown for PHX that you mentioned...

Jim
Talk about making SH*& UP , Remember REVENUE aint PROFIT, Pay Attention JIMBO, DISPROVE it, just like you told me the euro flt didn't cancel but you were wrong! Heads up! MM!

Talk about making SH*& UP ,

See those quotation marks? Ever wonder what they mean? That I was quoting someone else - get it? Article

Remember REVENUE aint PROFIT,

I've never said it was. PROVE me wrong...

You made claims about REVENUE in PHX - prove them or at least cite the source. I've given the source for what I've said about US' rank in PHX and the PROFITABILITY of it's LGA operation. Give the source for your statement about REVENUE in PHX.

we all know that DCA is a money making operation... there is not a lot of profit in PHX it is all per rasam... and it all happens in DCA... even Doug says it... so PHX is not all it...that is another reason that Doug et all wanted the East... The West is not a money making operation... why did they give up LAS? Case in point.... the money is on the EAST.... especially DCA a slot controlled operation... which now AWA has... and every airline wants...
IE the slot swap w. DL... We rule in DCA...

Jim BTW, your source doesn't mean diddly squat, or does mine, really? Your US source in PHX is really "TAINTED", Why do you think this slot swap got, "LAST MINUTE SCRUTINY" , hang on, this is the tip of the iceburg, LOA 93, then alot of the rest, going to be fun! MM!

Sorry to disappoint you - I don't have a source in PHX nor have I claimed one. Anyone can know what I know, all that's required is to read and listen to what's available. Some would rather just make it up as they go however...lots of talk then slither away and ignore it when they're wrong. Show me I'm wrong about something and I'll admit my error. You - not so much.

Now, for that evidence about REVENUE in PHX...

we all know that DCA is a money making operation...

We all assume that to be the case. Why else would US want the slot swap if it wasn't that it could make bigger profits in DCA than LGA? But you and I certainly don't have figures to prove that DCA can be more porfitable than LGA, we assume that US has those.

there is not a lot of profit in PHX it is all per rasam...

Parker has claimed that even PHX is profitable, without comparing profitability to CLT or PHL. How profitable? I have no idea and neither does anyone else here. That's my point. MM made a claim about the ranking of airlines in PHX based on revenue, a claim that he can't possibly provide the evidence for.

and it all happens in DCA... even Doug says it... so PHX is not all it...

All happening in DCA is a foolish statement. If that were true, why have service to Europe? South America? LAX/SEA/etc on the west coast? None of those originate in DCA.

No, PHX isn't "it all" and I've never claimed that it is. But the east coast isn't "it all" either. Nor the European ops. It should be obvious that every piece pulls it's weight and if it doesn't it gets cut and the resources reallocated elsewhere (like LGA). An airline network is like a woven mosaic and not like a collection of diverse scraps of fabric. Every part plays a role and without each part the picture is incomplete.

The West is not a money making operation...

How odd that US didn't have an annual operating profit for the 5 straight years prior to the merger while AWA did then. Care to explain how the "profitable" east continuously lost money while the money-losing west made profits?

“The Justice Department says it wants to take a closer look at a deal that would allow US Airways to expand its flights at Reagan National Airport in Washington.”
So the deal goes thru with restrictions on USAirways in DCA. And what might they me???
DL wins US has to make concession. What lurks here?

"Separately, the Justice Department said yesterday it will continue its antitrust examination of the US Airways slots at Reagan National. Delta’s LaGuardia plan doesn’t raise competitive concerns so that review will be dropped, according to an e-mailed statement".
"US Airways was still studying the government’s action yesterday and also had no immediate comment, said Michelle Mohr, a spokeswoman."

Delta gets the LGA slots unrestrictive
US doesn’t get the DCA Slots unless concession/restrictions are met

The word in DCA is that mainline will see almost no additions ,almost all new flights will be Republic and express. Why do we keep handing more over to that loser RPA. When they have a bad day they take everyone down with them.

Is anyone surprised by this? "US Airways: the world's largest collection of commuter airlines"

So far no announcement of the news on the Wings site. Is Elise on vacation this week.

Justice Department Statement on US Airways/Delta Airlines Acquisition of Slots at Washington's Reagan National and New York's Laguardia Airports
Department Continues to Investigate Slot Acquisition at National Airport and Will Not Continue its Investigation at LaGuardia Airport

WASHINGTON – The Department of Justice issued the following statement today after the Department of Transportation (DOT) issued its order involving US Airways’ and Delta Airlines’ acquisition of slots at Washington’s Ronald Reagan National Airport and New York’s LaGuardia Airport:

“The Antitrust Division has been conducting an investigation of US Airways’ acquisition of Delta Airlines’ slots at Washington’s Ronald Reagan National Airport to determine the transaction’s impact on competition and traveling consumers. The division will continue its investigation with a focus on the increase in US Airways’ share and use of slots at Reagan National and the resulting decrease in Delta’s share of slots at this slot-constrained airport, at which passengers pay among the highest fares in the country. The division will not continue to investigate the acquisition of slots at New York’s LaGuardia Airport because the division has concluded that acquisition does not raise competitive concerns.

“While the Antitrust Division works closely with DOT on airline issues, the two agencies act under substantially different statutory and regulatory frameworks. The role of the Antitrust Division is to protect competition and to ensure that companies do not raise prices to harm consumers in violation of the antitrust laws. Under the antitrust laws, the division can and will take appropriate action, if warranted, at the conclusion of its investigation.”

Does Slot Deal Impact US Airways Merger Hopes?

Click here to read the story.

Earlier today Scott Kirby held a Crew News session. Scott indicated he was pleased the DOT approved the deal and said US Airways would proceed with the transaction.

Scott indicated the transaction would close in 30-60 days and then the first of the two phases of the deal would proceed 90 days later. Scott said the DOJ could sue to prevent the agreement from proceeding, but he was hopeful that would not occur.
