Lib darling in demise

But by avoiding questions on important issues - from Social Security overhaul to driver's licenses for illegal immigrants - Clinton risks playing into a narrative her rivals are eager to establish: that she is slippery, evasive and overly political.

"Whether it's accurate or not, people have this sense that she has an 'ends justify means' approach to being accurate and consistent," said Dennis Goldford, a political scientist at Iowa's Drake University. "That's her vulnerability, and it's where Edwards and Obama will go nuclear eventually."

You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time.

Dell,

I would change that to "deafening diehard Liberals" since they tend to shirek, whine and scream so much. Throw in a "meow" or two for good measure.

But do you think that We the People are watching any of this? I think a lot folks are already deaf and indifferent from politicos campaigning a year already with another year to go. Sometimes you can get people to ignore the smell of BS just by laying it out there day in and day out until it becomes part and parcel with the landscape and turns into a status quo. That's what Hillary's plan appears to be to me ( along with hoping that the public's Bush fatigue endures until November 2008).

All of you better start getting used to the phrase "Madam President". W and his playmates have corrupted the system to the degree that Clinton looks like a step up. You guys are the ones whining and you are getting exactly what you asked for when you put W in for a second term.

His own party has distanced them selves from him. None of the republican contenders are asking him to stump for them. Hell, they are slamming him wen given the chance.

You are going to loose the White House and in all likely hood you will loose even more seats in Congress. So instead of grid lock, the pendulum will swing to the other side. The best you guys have to offer is McCain and Guliani. I would not mind McCain but you half wits are too stupid to elect him. The religious nut jobs have all said they will voe 3rd party if he gets te nomination. Guliani is to liberal since he believes in gay rights and other horrible ideas like that. I don't even think swift boat lies would save you guys now. The corruption of the W admin is coming home to roost and it is going to cost you guys te the White House just as it cost you the Congress.

I hope you are happy with your selves.

It doesn't really matter what Hillary does or doesn't say, a Republican simply can't win an election in '08 and the country knows it. Polls have already shown that she would crush the Republicans likely candidate, Giuliani. Personally, i don't care for her, i'd much rather see Obama, or even Biden. At any rate, whomever wins the Democratic ticket, wins the White House, el chimpo has seen to it.

You better take a long hard look into the mirror Mr.Lib......As I suspected it would be,once again the Left has swooned with glee in pursuit of the dreaded Right, much like they did when the American public got tired of it and voted them out also.Already they have sent Congress approval ratings well into the tank. They spend all this time 'investigating' and very little running the country.Already Pelosi and company have backpedaled on things and promises they campaigned on.I think the American people are becoming all too weary of the same old crap and won't stand idly by anymore.Hillary isn't going to get a slam dunk...its about to become very, very interesting. She will not be able to control whats asked of her anymore.Shes going to have to finally stand up and give comment on many, many unpleasant issues both in Their past and the country's interest. No longer will she be able to jump from position to position with out grave political cost. She has faltered in the national spotlight and shown her Achilles heel....it will be exploited until November.

While i would agree that Hillary might not be the best person for the job, i'd take Obama, Biden, even Edwards or Ron Paul before i voted for Hillary, the fact of the matter is, the chances of a Republican getting elected in '08 is slim and none. As for the Democrats sending Congresses approval into the tank, that little doozie began nose-diving on the Republicans watch and you know it. Hence, the reason they were booted out of there in the first place. Just wait until Bush starts WW3 with Iran, (his words, not mine), as if a Republicans chance of getting elected weren't bad enough.

One of the primary reasons that Congress has an abysmal approval rating it that the people have little if any understanding how government works. I would venture a guess that most think that since the Dems have the majority, they can do as they see fit. What they fail to understand is that they do not have the votes to over ride a veto. So while the approval rating of Congress is justifiably low, the lack of understanding is exaggerating the issue.

Oh my, campaign promises are not being kept? Tell me it ain't so. It would be news worthy if campaign promises were kept. I seem to recall a certain POTUS candidate saying that troops should not be used for nation building like they were under Clinton. So please spare me the "the people will be shocked" BS. The voters will be choosing between the lesser of two morons. MCCain hitched his wagon to W and he is probably dead in the water but does not know it. Guliani has the moral standing of ...OH Clinton? Thing is Dems don't give a rats ass if you pork someone else, Repub's for some reason do care if it is out in the open, as long as you hide the fact that you are gay/racist/adulterer/pedophile or what ever it's fine. Did I mention he supports gays rights and Abortion? OH yea and his kids hate him. That will go over just great with the "Family Values" idiots.

The way it stands right now, Clinton could put on a GI helmet, jump in a tank, and scream her ass off and it would not make a difference. The only way I see her not getting elected is if she drops out of the race.

Thirteen republicans have announce they are not seeking re-election. W has pissed this nation to the point that the US would vote in Carter if he ran.

Like I said, the republicans have screwed up big time and if Clinton get elected, it's your fault and no one else's.

Garfield,
"Save your (typing) Breath"

Dell is nobody's fool. He like a lot of us, are waiting for the polls to come out(in about 1-2 weeks to see where Hillary is(in the polls) !

Obviously, not her best showing.(Anyone think her "crackerjack" teams isn't ALREADY reviewing the tapes, over and over again)

Truth be told, if this was John McCains 1st try, Hillary could NOT beat him.(OOPS, I forgot, J Mc would,nt even be around to face Hillary, because James Dobson et. al. would have CANNIBELISED him by now.)(You can't be a republican, and think for yourself) My bad.

As far as Hillary's.."ALMOST" saying she would give licences to Illegals, Rudy, or Romney COULD NOT go after her on that Issue, because of their Democrat like stances of some issues, when they were at the helm(s) in NYC and Mass.

The only, and I mean ONLY Hope the GOP has, actually lies in the Democrat primary, meaning they want ANYBODY to beat Hillary,...but alas they're Doomed for FAILURE in 08', thanks to the BLACK HOLE that EL-CHIMPO has dug for them.

(and) when El-CHIMPO bombs Iran, it may be 2020, before they ever see the WH.

NHBB -

Right on target...

The republican party members are so disgusted with their leadership's increasingly liberal policies, that most republicans will stay home on voting day. I'd say that the only chance any republican contender has of winning is if the democrats do run Hillery. There is enough hatred for her that she could motivate republicans to go vote for anyone else.

OTOH -
- If you run a democrat and a democrat, a democrat is going to win.
Since both parties are running liberals, the only difference will be the degree to which the pendulum will continue it's path toward sicialism.

Gar,lot of time between now and the big dance.....the republicans have learned well from the Clintstones bag of dirty political tricks. It should be an interesting mudsli-I mean campaign year to say the least.I don't care who says what,Hillary Clinton is not and will not make a good president. If you want rampant socialism then lets go with Hillary. She'll cure the social security/baby boomer crisis by government health care.....control who gets in for medical care and watch them die like flies....waa laa,no more money crisis in SSI
America should be demanding accountability to the way SSi has been unfunded over the years and what can be done about it.Every administration is guilty here, starting with tricky dicky.
I think it is entirely way too early to sign off on any party slam dunking the presidency.
Nuke Iran and Republicans will gain big time because this time they'll be all kinds WMD's on the 6 o'clock news...take it to the bank.

Undecided?

Hillary Clinton leads in the polls in the early contests of 2008, but party strategists warn that a large number of still-undecided independents and Democrats could hit her with a January surprise.

While the national news media concentrates on her poll leads in Iowa, New Hampshire, Michigan, Nevada, South Carolina and Florida, very little attention is paid to those voters who say they haven't made up their mind. Some have not begun to focus on the election, while others have doubts about Hillary's electability.

Those doubts were heightened late last month in a poll of 9,718 likely general election voters across the country by independent pollster John Zogby, who found 50 percent of them would never vote for Mrs. Clinton under any circumstances.

Democratic strategists warn of slippage

Democratic Party strategists are warning of a voter backlash against party candidates in 2008.

Democrats tend not to be optimists about their political fortunes, both by nature and by the lessons of history.

But there is an emerging consensus among party veterans that they have a greater likelihood of retaking the White House in 2008 than at any time in the past 40 years.

Yet for nearly every expression of confidence, there are private admissions of anxiety by key Democrats. In backroom conversations throughout Washington, influential partisans still nervously mutter a warning they have learned the hard way: Democrats could still snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

In short, there is a gnawing fear that somehow, some way, they can still screw things up.

“We are a little bit of a shellshocked political party. We somehow or another always figure out a way to blow it,â€￾ Democratic strategist James Carville said. “Democrats have to talk their way out of winning.â€￾

Democrats lose because they deserve to. They would have lost in 92 if a third party candidate, Ross Perot had not let Clinton get elected with 42 percent of the vote.

They should lose in 2008 because they have been dead wrong on Iraq all year and the public is starting to see how wrong they were. If Democrat policy had been adopted last year Iraq would have been lost and al Qaeda would be crowing about defeating the US. Now al Qaeda is on the run in Iraq and a grassroots movement is bringing reconciliation to the country. Their attempt to split Iraq has been rejected by all factions.

The Democrats are also wrong on the SCHIP program and the Republicans need to refine their message to demonstrate how the Democrats are putting people who pay the Alternative Minimum Tax on the "rich" on the medical benefits dole. Republicans also need to bring the horrors of rationed health care to the attention of the country so that people will understand the pig that the Democrats are trying to sell.

We are? I guess if Don says it's so he must be right. It has been what, 3 or 4 years since "mission Accomplished" and things are going so well. Just a little mop up action and 4 thousand dead soldiers. Yes things are going great. I would love to see them try and sell that snake oil.

He failed to mention how the republicans are going to get their people to vote for a candidate who is opposed to core issues of the conservative right. Both front runners supports the right to choose and support gay rights. Pat Robertson may have swallowed that pill but he did it because he knows three is no other way and he is a hypocrite. You think the rest of the team will play along? And then there is the issue of Kerik

The point is the big ones, the real ones, the Thatchers and Indira Gandhis and Golda Meirs and Angela Merkels, never play the boo-hoo game. They are what they are, but they don't use what they are. They don't hold up their sex as a feint: Why, he's not criticizing me, he's criticizing all women! Let us rise and fight the sexist cur.

When Hillary Clinton suggested that debate criticism of her came under the heading of men bullying a defenseless lass, an interesting thing happened. First Kate Michelman, the former head of NARAL and an Edwards supporter, hit her hard. "When unchallenged, in a comfortable, controlled situation, Sen. Clinton embraces her elevation into the 'boys club.' " But when "legitimate questions" are asked, "she is quick to raise the white flag and look for a change in the rules."

But even better, and more startling, people began to giggle. At Mrs. Clinton, a woman who has never inspired much mirth. Suddenly they were remembering the different accents she has spoken with when in different parts of the country, and the weird laugh she has used on talk shows. A few days ago new poll numbers came out--neck and neck with Barack Obama in Iowa, her lead slipping in New Hampshire. There is a sense that Sen. Obama is rising, a sense for the first time in this election cycle that Mrs. Clinton just may be in a fight, a real one, one she could actually lose.

It's all kind of wonderful, isn't it? Someone indulged in special pleading and America didn't buy it. It's as if the country this week made it official: We now formally declare that the woman who uses the fact of her sex to manipulate circumstances is a jerk.

Looks like people are starting to see Hillary for what she really is... cold, smileless, and coniving. In the past month, Clinton has lost 10% of her lead to Obama, and now she only leads by 11%.

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has seen her lead over fellow White House hopeful, Senator Barack Obama, D-Illinois, grow tighter.

In the latest poll of likely New Hampshire Democratic primary voters from the Marist College Institute for Public Opinion, the New York senator had 36 percent support, to Obama's 25 percent. Last month, Clinton led Obama by 21 percentage points according to Marist.

Clinton's lead is shrinking to Obama

I agree there Lily......the point I try to make is she is a prepackaged phony...but too many swoon to her and the prospect of a woman in the White House...I have no problem with a woman president...but she is not qualified.Maybe Rosy O'Donnel or Ellen DeGegenerat would be better...
Obama...you see that pic of him not saluting the flag during the national anthem?Speaks loads to me and anyone who is a patriot.
